and odu's record against both?
Pretty close to .500 against VCU with nearly 100 games played. MT is inexcusable.

Please, tell us more about our head coach. Clearly you know everything about him, his family, and his beliefs about heading to a new program. Your knowledge of all things Kermit Davis is so impressive with your deep, thoughtful responses.
Yeah, the VCU guys all said the same thing about Shaka. Seriously. The best thing our teams can do is build momentum. If you can replace a good coach with another good one, and then another, and string together a nice line of NCAA appearances (and wins) you can build something strong. If you fail to build that kind of momentum you fall right back to the mid-major pack, a la GMU.
For ***** sake...can we stop talking in circles?
TEXAS OFFERED SHAKA THREE MILLION DOLLAS A YEAR.
I do not believe anyone is suggesting that Kermit is untouchable, but the Shaka Smart comparison is just completely off base.
Kermit Davis is twenty years older than Shaka was when Texas hired him, he's been at MT more than twice as long as Shaka was at VCU.
Davis has certainly raised his profile, but even winning out this year and a Final Four run wouldn't raise Kermit's profile to what Shaka's was when he was hired and won the CBI in year one and made it to the Final Four in year two and became the second youngest active coach to reach 100 wins.
We are simply saying he's not going to jump at a million to million and half dollar offer from the firat power conference team to offer.

You don't know what you're talking about...
There are only a few dozen schools who pay four times(or more) what we pay Kermit, and even less that pay four times what we could probably offer to try to keep him.
He's not untouchable, but a $2M a year offer probably starts the conversation, but at present I'm not sure he has the resume for that sort offer anyhow.
Out of the thirty some odd coaches currently making $2M+ there is exactly ONE who joined the $2M+ club in his fifties, jumping from a smaller program that he had been at for more than a decade and that is Dana Altman at Oregon, who spent about as long at Creighton as Kermit has been at MT and made the jump at 51(six years younger than Kermit) and while we may be an up and coming program, we are not Creighton, Altman had six MVC tourney titles and nine NCAA wins compared to Kermit's one CUSA title and one NCAA win.
Every other coach in the $2M+ club came from bigger programs, and/or did so much younger, and/or did so after a far shorter tenure.

Kermit makes just north of $500,000 a year. I would imagine if the SEC or similar schools came calling, he would take a hard look. MT fans and Murfreesboro residents just don't show up on a regular basis. It is what it is.
