They've earned it and deserve it. The wheels fell off of our bus during that Friday night loss to App State. This team hasn't really looked the same since. Complete meltdown.
Thanks for the honesty, and thank you Troy baseball. Trust me, myself and many other UL fans were closely following the Troy-USA series. We're glad things swung our way.

Yeah we haven't talked about the weather yet. It's supposed to rain all week. And if you guys recall this week last year we had devastating floods that killed about a dozen people.

Coastal beat Campbell 23-4 in 7 innings.
Campbell forfeited as they have nothing to play for, and their season is over thanks to their APR postseason ban.

Oh, I know. The whole Central Texas area was under water. I remember the plumbing not working at the San Marcos outlet mall the next week.

One of our coaches told me that if he got to choose the game time, he'd always play the 9am game. It's early, not in the heat of the day, and its the game most likely to get in before the typical May afternoon storms.
I'm not sure our AD would agree with him, but I get the reasoning.

You sure that's not just a get-away day Mercy rule? Final game of every SBC series has a 10 run rule. Game over if a team leads by 10 after 7 innings or later.

Gotta say, this comment really ticks me off. Backed our way in? No sir. It's a 30 game conference season buddy. I don't give a rats ass who started hot or not. At the end of the day it's the best overall record over the course of those 30 games. And the Cajuns and USA both finished 21-9 with UL beating USA straight up.
Matter of fact, UL finished the conference schedule going 11-4 in the last 15 games while USA finished 6-9. Also, USA lost 4 conference series while UL won all but 1.
I think it's pretty clear that we didn't "backdoor" our way into anything and quite frankly we scratched and clawed to earn it.
See you boys in postseason.

I'm with you Juice. it doesn't matter how or when you go 21-9 as long as you go 21-9.
We could have packed it in losing that heartbreaker to the Jags on Friday. Instead we nutted up and won the last two.
Cajuns have won six straight now.
Take that backdoor and put it in your backdoor.
We earned what we got.

I don't believe he meant to slight UL or your accomplishments this season . .
I think he was simply trying to "highlight" the improbability of your claiming a piece of the title in light of your position a week or so ago.
Clearly, no race is over til it's over, and UL deserves what it's earned . . . Congrats.

Not trying to fan any flames, but they are calling backdoor not for anything on Louisiana's end, but more of the collapse on South Alabama's part. All they had to do was win the series against Troy on the road. All they had to do was win the series (or even sweep) App. All they had to do was win the Georgia Southern series. All they had to do was...etc.
They do any of that and it doesn't matter how the Cajuns got to 21-9. As it was, the Cajuns had a goal in sight and met the goal in a very consistent manner. They showed they deserve the crown.
Despite finishing seventh, there was one team throughout the season that I felt was truly better than the Mavs, and that was Louisiana. I'm not terribly worried about being outmatched against anyone else.

Yeah, exactly. Didn't mean any disrespect to the Cajuns. "backdoor" probably not the right word.
But South had a pretty rough collapse down the stretch that left the door open.
Good luck to everyone in the tournament and better luck next year to GSU, ULM, and App.

Agree about South. But their 16-0 start was, honestly, fools gold, and a lot of us thought as much.
They, like the Cajuns (and everyone else) had plenty of deficiencies. Ours showed up early. Theirs showed up late.

On the field, nope.

That said, Coach Thomas can beat the Texas', TCU's, A&M's and any number of ranked schools, but he can't figure y'all out for nothing. He is 13-22 vs. TXST. If you just want to count series and not games, he is 3-6 with no wins in five tries in the conference tourney.

App took both games from Longwood to get the three-game sweep and finish the season 18-36.

Nice to go out on a positive note. Nice weekend for the seniors.
Plus we can say the Sun Belt's 11th best team can sweep the Big South's 4th best team. Plus you guys can say you can sweep Longwood, while Coastal can't...
