The Critical battle this week is for 8th, though ULL still has an outside shot at stealing the title if Troy can do them a solid. (And somehow I get the feeling that Troy would love nothing more than to screw USA out of a title)

Most of the rest of the discussion is over seedings, s 1 game separates 4th place from 7th place.

Seeding scenarios:
USA: clinched at least the second seed. Will claim the regular season championship with a series win, one win and two losses by ULL or two ULM wins.

ULL: Clinched at least the third seed. Will get the championship with a sweep or two wins and a Troy series win or sweep. Will get the third seed with a Little Rock sweep or series win coupled with two losses to ULM or a Warhawk sweep.

Little Rock, Troy, Georgia Southern, Texas State, UTA: All clinched at least the seventh seed. All can move up to three with a massive combination of wins and losses. Little Rock has the tiebreaker with Troy, Texas State and Georgia Southern. Troy has the tiebreaker with Georgia Southern and Texas State. Georgia Southern has the tiebreaker with UTA. Texas State has the tiebreaker with Georgia Southern. UTA has the tiebreaker with Little Rock and Troy. Vs. USA: Little Rock 0-3, Troy -, Georgia Southern 1-2, Texas State 0-3, UTA 0-3. Vs. ULL: Little Rock 2-1, Troy 1-2, Georgia Southern 1-2, Texas State 1-2, UTA 1-2.

Arkansas State will clinch the 8th seed and a spot in San Marcos by winning the series @ Little Rock next weekend, or if BOTH ULM and GSU lose their respective series (@ ULL, @ GS) next weekend. (Red Wolves hold both the 3 way tiebreak, and the tiebreak with ULM, they lose a tiebreak with GSU)

ULM needs to win 2 and hope LR sweeps AState or Sweep and hope LR takes 2 from AState, AND hope that GSU does not sweep GS. (Warhawks own tiebreak with GSU, but not AState, and would lose a 3 team tiebreak)

GSU needs to sweep and hope LR takes 2 from AState AND ULM finishes behind them in the league standings. (Panthers own tiebreak with AState, but not with ULM, and do not own a 3 team tiebreak)

One side note, Texas State has not clinched the 7 seed yet. If they were to somehow get swept by you guys, and we swept Little Rock, than we would be the 7 seed based off head to head record against the Bobcats, provided Georgia Southern and Troy each win a game this weekend.

Yep. I think we can finish anywhere between 3rd and 8th, though 3rd and 8th are both extremely unlikely to happen.

So what you are saying is that we have no chance of sweeping Little Rock?

Probably not, but our history in the SBC is we usually win series against ULM, Texas State, and Little Rock almost every season. We've already taken care of the first two. A couple years ago they beat us in a game to end a 12 game losing streak against us, so it's not impossible that we could figure something out.

I admit, they've never been this good any of those years though.

Little Rock will be dangerous in the tournament cause they can mash. I don't know if they have the pitching depth to win it though. I'll tell you this, if we have to play them I hope it's not early in the tournament.

For us, that was last weekend in Mobile. Been a long time since I felt that kind of electricity for a regular season series.

Those who have been in the league a long time know that South Al and UL are each other's rivalry in baseball, regardless of what the conference, ULM or Troy think.

Yes, we are aware. That was discussed before. It was also discussed that this is as close to all in state rivalries as we get.

For me it's not just baseball, I love punching ULaLa in the face every chance I get, no matter the sport. Makes this world so much nicer to be in.

And more fun.

Love having rivals!!!!04-cheers

I actually thought I'd be watching a Jags-Cajuns softball game this past weekend rather than two with TXST.

I was hoping, that pitcher for TxSt has our number. Good luck in the WCWS!!! I'd love to see a softball championship in the SBC.

I think we'll be even better next year. Rupp will be a junior, almost the whole team back and third year with Cat and Kelly assisting.

Oops, did forget the distinct possibility that we could sweep TXST (1 three-game sweep of the 'cats since 1995) and ya'll sweep Little Rock (much more possible based on recent history) could theoretically flip-flop y'all two.

Mathematically speaking, of course.
