After tonight I am thinking maybe, just maybe this year's edition is one of those rare teams of destiny where the stars align just right and unbelievable good fortune comes their way against all odds.

I wouldn't go there quite yet - unless you have some really good blood pressure meds available...

I'll get back to you in another hour or so.
I am back and I now totally believe you. You were 100% right and I am happy to admit that I was 100% wrong.

I like my team to win as many TROPHIES as possible and put themselves in as many opportunities to do so as possible. I just don't get how you argue with that. What are we playing for if it's not a trophy?
I don't get a trophy. As a fan, I get bragging rights. The MACC is hardly rights for bragging.
So not winning it gives us the right to brag?
I think we'll beat WMU and would maintain our ranking after that through the bowl season. But, like i've said multiple times in multiple threads, I don't feel good about playing BG again this year for many reasons. The risk isn't worth the reward for me.

We played a really good game against BGSU. But, that's the only complete game we've played out of 10. I'm not sure we can manage to do that 3 times in a row when we've only done it once all season. Once again, I don't value a MACC nearly as much as most of the folks on this board. I value rankings, OOC wins against the P5, and a streak of wins over BG that doesn't end and only has to be maintained once a season.
Its been a long long time for a championship around here, so for that reason a MACC would be especially nice

It didn't to me. Who else has the two running backs in front of the quarterback who is in the shotgun taking the snap? One snap over his head, and it could have ended ugly. I kept expecting to see that one bad snap happen...

I am on a ton of blood pressure meds and if the Rockets don't take care of business against WMU Friday, I may have to up the dosage still further Still they caught a big time break tonight and got a major reprieve, so who knows how long from here on out they can ride the lucky streak?

RE: Ohio-NIU
I mean, for years we've been watching The Rockets run an offense that has a bit in common with NIU, with an athletic QB with run/pass options surrounded by a boatload of strong RB's. We watched Aaron Opelt run that offense with modest success. He couldn't stay on the field for a whole season. We watched Austin Dantin run that offense with modest success. He couldn't stay on the field for a whole season at all. We even watched Logan Woodside last season and he got banged up at the worst possible time. All this time we're wondering what on earth is NIU doing to avoid this from ever happening when their QB's all seem like the more dangerous running threat than any of the above Rocket QB's.
Then you look back at the past 5 seasons where NIU beat us, they'd always seem to lose one other game, probably just to troll us, but never a second game, despite countless close calls. Maybe it's one thing for us to not have found a way to beat these guys, but is there no other team in this sorry conference besides CMU that could step up, ONCE, and knock these guys off?
Well my goodness, it finally happened, and we better not let this second life slip away. Eat well this Thanksgiving but don't you dare let your hunger be completely devoured with nothing left for Friday like it did two years ago! Go ROCKETS!!!

With apologies to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, we need to smash those wooden ships so bad that they all turn to mulch. Then mix it with composted manure, and dump it all in Bowling Green so that the town smells better!

NIU is on a mission like they have been in the past, and that is WINNING the MAC championship again. They simply know when to get it done. This is not a knock on the Rockets. They have had the Rockets number, just like what UT has done against BGSU and others. UT must finish up strong at home, I believe convincingly over the Broncos. 10-1 sounds so much better then 9-2. GO ROCKETS
WRONG. OU 26 NIU 21. Go Rockets.
