Not trying to be a conspiracy theorist or anything but, it's pretty obvious that part of the plan to make Memphis a "football school" involved insuring that basketball took a back seat. No other rational way to explain it. I don't think Pastner could win anyway but ... I think there have been talks to ease the fan base on the basketball team so they could more easily focus on the football team. I don't think anybody could have predicted to what extreme the football team would rise or to what extreme the basketball team could fall but I do think there was an intentional shift that began on Normal.

We were told that over 2000 people are on the Josh Pastner Facebook page and that was the 1 true measuring stick of fan support. Were all of them sitting on the opposite side in that picture?

This has very little to do with fans disgruntled with the coach. A lot of people didn't even know about it and the timing of it was a poor decisions. Even some of those that want the coach gone probably would have gone just to meet the players who have nothing to do with their angst about the decline of the basketball program

I'll bet the one blaming the fans wasn't even there today.

I still find it interesting that the coach won't allow his players to say "n*gga", yet he gets rick ross to rap "elvis presley blvd" last year where he repeatedly states he has heroin, crack, cocaine, and white prostitutes for sale. About that same time, rick ross rapped in another song about drugging women and raping them without their knowledge. It was so bad that other rappers and the entire rap industry was giving him grief about it.

No major attendance drop in Sacramento. But nice try to divert the real subject. Memphians are apathetic in nature and follows the "in thing: until it's time has passed and then moves on. You have not provided anything except smartass remarks to counter that fact. Which for the most part is your M.O.

Thanks for playing.

Additionally they have been really good for the past decade. People like winners. Put a good product out there and Memphians will support it. Doesnt make us any different than almost every other city out there. Clearly the exception is horn lake.

You read Josh's comments in the CA story? He sounds like a defeated man saying he knows a lot of people don't want them to do well.

Without the rap I did not expect many there. Most of the people came to see the rappers because it was free. We do have to way many fair weather fans.

Bunch of BS.
When I was a student, we didn't have rappers come to Madness and we still drew huge crowds.
This was not well organized and heck many of us, including myself, thought madness was cancelled. The school has a responsibility to publicize this well. They wanted to keep it low key and that's what ended up happening.

and people on here want to complain about the attendance?

When you try and do things on the cheap and on top of that send out mis leading information what do you expect. AD office screwed the pooch on this deal

I'm sure your buddy RC would have handled it differently. Surly with RC still in place as our AD, we'd probably be in either the SEC, Big 12, or possibly the ACC and I'm sure our football team would be in the top 10 instead of the paltry #18 in the country. Amazing how Bowen, his staff and President Rudd has ruined our athletic program. Get rid of Bowen and bring back RC, yep that's the ticket.

C'mon ,basketball's problems lay squarely on the baskeball program. They have had every advantage and opportunity to be good and have failed. This kind of crap is just sad. I don't see how you can correlate the two. The basketball program was sinking (2010)long before Fuente got here(2012).

I blame the new i269 opening up between 385 and 302. People were testing out the new road and forgot about the Memphis Madness

Why not it sounds just as good as the rest
