Boca has to be the elderly capital of America. Those people can't be expected to sit outside in a hot metal stadium for 3 hours. FAU has a huge student body. They are going to have to figure out a way to lure those kids away from the beach.

FIU is in Miami. Not only do they have to compete with the beach and all that Miami has to offer, but they have to compete with the University of Miami for attention. Again, like FAU, they have a huge student body. They are going to have to figure out a way to lure those kids away from the other Saturday options.

Maybe those two should dump sand along the end zones and open "Sun Sections", where students could bring their beach towels and wear their bikinis and trunks. It couldn't hurt.

Check out their home schedules. They have the same problem we all have. No school in the MAC, CUSA or SBC averaged more than 29k.

I didn't realize that. Marshall and/or UTEP didn't average over 30k?

Paging StayCool. Someone from NIU has to answer for this.

PantherFan, he didn't have a come back so it was either "your momma is fat" or MDCC. Think he should have gone with your momma is fat, lol

If you want to get into a very different argument (which I don't want to) after being in the job world where you went to school really doesn't matter except for certain programs within in a school.

NIU had 5 home games, 1 was Presbyterian(FCS) on a Thursday night, 2 were bad MAC teams(Miami and Kent State), NIU drew over 20,000 for CMU on a Saturday in early October. The killer was Toledo@NIU on a Tuesday 11/11/14. The DeKalb-Chicago area broke a record for the number of consecutive subzero temperature days in November that went
back to 1903. The game for the MAC West title which normally would have drawn between 17,000-20,000 had an attendance of about 8,500. Just out and out brutally cold. Don't blame families for not attending this one.
Too brutal for the wife and kids.

It does and he probably doesn't even know why. same thing happened with his smaller school bigger attendance argument. Discussions with this poster always confirms that the state of Florida has it right when it comes to fau.

I wonder how MACaction Tuesdays suppress these numbers?...the NIU poster talked about the frigid weather in the matchup with Toledo...well the Rust Belt has this weather EVERY year; thus a month of MACaction gets just the diehards freezing out at night, mid-week...if they stop sucking up to ESPN and played Saturday football in November, then would they still inhabit this list?

BR 13,563 is still just 13,563 no matter how you look at it or try and spin it. I would think for a school that is 57-13 over the last 5 years should be better than that.

I can relate to that. Our Championship game had similar terrible conditions. 35 degrees in driving rain/sleet and windy conditions. I had my family stay home as well. Only the hardest of hard core fans attended that one. Most stayed home and watched it on TV.

Yes they would still be on the list. And in many ways, the attendance could be worse for them on Saturdays due to schools like Ohio State and Michigan/Michigan State that draw so well statewide.

As for CUSA/MWC, we both have 2 while the Sunbelt has 3. Interesting to say the least. We have some work to do but I think FIU/FAU will draw better this year.

I guess if you had a winning record and you're on this list you have BIG problems.

Paging StayCool. Someone from NIU has to answer for this.

If the B12 sees this.....

He has noticed this post and mentioned it on the realignment board but fails to answer for NIUs horrible attendance. He has no answer I guess. I don't think that is going to get them in the B12 no matter the level of zealotry.

RE: The 15 worst football attendance schools for 2014-15
Here's their attendance the last 5 seasons-

13,563 ('14)
20,669 ('13)
20,877 ('12)
18,903 ('11)
17,760 ('10)

NIU's stadium capacity is 23,595 so even if they sold out every game the same people would still be on here cackling about how bad their attendance is. Same goes for the MAC as a whole, the avg capacity for MAC stadium is 26K. It is what it is.

The MAC has been around since 1946, its not going away.

No one would be cackling about their attendance being bad if they sold out every game. That's ridiculous. People would be saying how awesome they are and how they are up and coming. But they don't and people don't say those nice things.

No one said anything about the MAC or its future.

The issue is with unrealistic NIU supporters who think just because they slipped into a big bowl game a few years ago and got smacked around by FSU that they have somehow arrived. It reminds me of App State and their yearly circle jerk about "how they beat Michigan in the big house!!"

It's probably "password"

I think it needs a number as well, so "password1"

My password is "Invalid" that way when I type it in wrong it comes up and tells me "Your password is invalid."

Then I remember every time.

That's possible, but the option of playing those games while the sun is still up would at least help alleviate the cold issue.

I might take a hoodie to a late October game in Hattiesburg, so I never even thought about how the weather piles onto this early weeknight nonsense for Northern schools.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: One of these days, somebody at ESPN is going to decide hauling their equipment and personnel to all these dead, empty stadiums scattered about creation isn't worth the trouble anymore, and they're just going to invest in a new studio with a football field inside it and bring the teams to them instead.
