1. Not suprised SJSU & UNLV are on the list. They've struggled with attendance for a long time, basically forever.
2. Is NIU's attendance really that bad? Kind of shocked about that, especially given the success they've had. However, is this generally how it is? Has it always been that bad?
NIU has always had trouble at the gate. No support.
Read the Chicago papers. They rarely get a mention.

I guess if you had a winning record and you're on this list you have BIG problems.
I've can't believe it is possible to have that much success and that bad of an average attendance. Has NIU fired everyone in their promotions department yet?
Bowling Green's numbers don't make sense either.
A lot of it probably has to do with ESPN and Tuesday night MAC action in Nov. when it is 20 degrees outside...Starting in NOV. usually 4 MAC teams are in action on a Tuesday night at 9 on ESPNU and ESPN2....Selling your self out to ESPN 8 can do that to a program as far as attendance goes...Thursday night is not ideal but sure as hell better then Tuesday night in the rust belt in northern Ohio in 20 degree weather...CUSA has a major advantage over the MAC in this regard....MAC I think is on its way out, wouldn't be surprised in 5 years if MAC was no more....Yet we have Northern Illinois fan over here bragging about MAC and stability...Stability will get you in FCS!
Nothing new. The Mac has always had fan support issues. My MU brethren will back me up when I say that many times we felt like the home team in opposing Mac school contests. Countless times we had more fans in their stadium than the home team did.

RE: Top 15 worst football attendance schools for 2015
I have theory regarding FIU and FAU's attendance issues...
Boca has to be the elderly capital of America. Those people can't be expected to sit outside in a hot metal stadium for 3 hours. FAU has a huge student body. They are going to have to figure out a way to lure those kids away from the beach.
FIU is in Miami. Not only do they have to compete with the beach and all that Miami has to offer, but they have to compete with the University of Miami for attention. Again, like FAU, they have a huge student body. They are going to have to figure out a way to lure those kids away from the other Saturday options.
Maybe those two should dump sand along the end zones and open "Sun Sections", where students could bring their beach towels and wear their bikinis and trunks. It couldn't hurt.

No as long as you know you have the most with the least support.
This is just further proof that as a FAU is moving at a much faster to pace then FIU.

I wouldn't call FAU's student body huge. At 30,000 students, it is big, but not really out of the ordinary for a public institution. FIU on the other hand is one of the largest universities in the country though.

Check out their home schedules. They have the same problem we all have. No school in the MAC, CUSA or SBC averaged more than 29k.

Ok, tallest midget syndrome.
You don't want to be the best, you just don't want to be perceived a the worst.
Fortunately, FIU is more ambitious than that.
And how are you moving faster than FIU? You guys like to brag about "fastest to a bowl game", now that should be something you can sell to get community and alumni in the new palace. That is the start of a legacy, 8-5 in 2007. Add 1 win each year or ever other year after that ... but you haven't been over .500 since that. 8 years right? Definitely trending in the right direction.
But that isn't your goal, your goal is to have a few hundred more students in a stadium than FIU.

According to owl40, they are 10k less than FIU. FIU is at 55k now so they hould be at 45k if my math is correct.

Owlcountry40 said the average age in Boca (excluding FAU students) is 34. So age should not be an issue for community attendance. Also Boca per capita income is fairly high, so the community should have some disposable cash to support the program.
Owlcountry40 will tell you FAU does not have an attendance issue

It is,but support is growing every year.
The same can not be said for your school end of story.
FIU will always just be an extension of Miami Dade CC.

MDCC must be a much better school than fau since FIU is rated higher in academics. Just ask the state of Florida.
