RE: FAU expects sellout against Miami after record ticket sales
"Enough of the UM hate. FAU has no room to talk. Whereas a good number of people respect UM in the Miami metro, FAU and FIU are seen as joke schools by not only the fans but the students and professors at UM."

You sure know how to win friends and influence people. Telling us not to hate and then telling us you think our school is a joke. *shakes head*

I think we'll get a big win - not because FAU is bad per se but we have a very potent offense and if the FAU defense is not much better than it was last year it will get ugly quick. I saw the MT vs FAU game last year and I know there's a lot of growing to do -- but I also know Miami has a tendency to somewhat falter against teams we shouldn't falter against.

And just a P.S., Miami fans travel very well. A few years back (2 or 3 I think) we had almost half the crowd at Ga Tech.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahah at this God you U.M fans live in your own little world.
1st let me address you high expectations. You were a 6-7 ACC team who lost 8 players to the NFL. UM is not winning 6 games this year.
U.M "fans" think that just because they are DA U they will show up and out swag everyone to victories.
Well UM blew it's chance to be a national power for decades when their fans never stepped up put the pressure on the school and the city to build an on campus stadium back in the early 90's.
Now that every school in the country recruits in south Florida and kids don't want to play in an empty stadium, UM dies a little every year.
Living down here I find it funny that all you hear all day is "Fire Golden" ,but the Avg UM fans has never wrote a single check or even bought a season ticket in his life doesn't understand why the school can't pay to buy out Golden contract. 75 percent of UM's fan base couldn't find the actual campus if they tried.
Those fans though will make sure they have their "U has swag" shirts and scalp that ticket to the FSU game every year and start fights.

Someone's a little jealous. We have some easy wins on the schedule including FAU, and I think we'll have 6 wins for sure. Last year's late season collapse prevented any respectable finish and I think the players just gave up at a point close to the end. That won't happen this year, especially not against FAU. The stadium isn't empty. If you had any sense of actually wanting to research that, you'd know those pictures that circulate are part of the hate ring around UM that is dedicated to purposefully trying to make us look bad. That famous picture everyone points to was a game against BC-U at noon in 100 degree heat 15 minutes before gametime. Honestly, who do you think would go to that game? All of your comments are nonsense and ignorant. UM fans are for the most part smart and a good number have in fact graduated from the university, tho most of those - myself included - live out of state. Enough of the UM hate. FAU has no room to talk. Whereas a good number of people respect UM in the Miami metro, FAU and FIU are seen as joke schools by not only the fans but the students and professors at UM. I'll let the football team do the talking on the field. Your 3-9 year last year against our 6-7, I think I'll take the 6-7 and the ACC. I was there when MT beat FAU in the Boro last year, and tho I think FAU has potential, Miami is just a lot better both in coaching and in skill positions. Realness.
I'm not saying we are going to win the game, but your coach might be the worst in The country.
This also shows how much UM has fallen the fact that they have to fight and argue with FAU and FIU fans on who is a better program. Well congrats UM you had 2 National titles by the time FAU started undergrad.
The fact you are playing a game at FAU is shows how far UM has fallen.
UCF is 10times the program UM is now.
UM fans still think they are a national power program and compare themselves to programs like Bama and LSU.
Yet I went to the FAU Bama game last year it was at 11:00 AM local time and it was 100 degrees and guess what there was 100k people there.

The fact you think most UM fans went to the school is a joke.
We are talking about a program who hasn't been to a title game in maybe the weakest division in the P5 conferences.

UM fans remind me of a 38 year balding man who still wears his letterman jacket and the only way he can feel better about himself is to take shots and the younger guys and remind everyone how good he used to be.
Yet in the end it's everyone laughing at him.

RE: FAU expects sellout against Miami after record ticket sales
Back on point. These upcoming series against FAU and later FIU are going to be good for the local college scene in that there are few games that spark broad fan interest around here. Playing UM is one of them. Case in point, UM had to turn people away from its baseball regional when they played FIU this year; I'm not sure if it pent-up demand, community association or what but people turn out for these games.

Obviously these games are better for the state schools than for the 'canes but for overall awareness for all the programs these games are going to be important. Win or loss, the communities are going to be brought together and the profile's for all raised.

FAU is building their program in a slow steady manner, from facilities to recruiting foundation. Given their location and admin commitment (including hosting a bowl), I wouldn't be surprised if FAU went on a C-USA championship run in a few years in football & baseball.

I get that's a leap from today's narrative, but in 5-10 years C-USA may be very glad FAU football & baseball is in conference.

Just the opinion of one MT alum watching FAU's program for a decade or so.

As an FAU I dont care as long as the UM fans spend money and FAU does respectably or better.

The stadium was a risk but it looks like its a risk thats paying off in side-benefits. Bowl games, hosting other sporting events like Womens world cup (9000 showed up for that) even hosting alumni campus events at the stadium clubhouse opens wallets.

It's hilarious to me that some FAU fans are so hell-bent that they are comparatively better than UM at football. Sorry, but that's just not true. Anyway, it will be a good game and I'm sure thousands of Canes fans will be loud and proud in Boca.

The main reason I doubt that is because the U fans do not travel well (Yes, an hour long drive IS travel) and the stadium is built right on FAU's campus. FAU's a larger (much larger) school and, I believe, it is far easier to walk 400 yards to the stadium than drive an hour on US1 and/or I-95.
