It's true. As if American women created our war machines and ghetto scenes. I blame the Canadians for all of that.

Johnny Neumann
Keith Lee and Michael Cage
Penny Hardaway and Todd Day
Thad Young and the 2007 team
Skal and Nichols
Etc.
Tiger basketball would possibly have one more Final Four and a few more Sweet 16/Elite 8 runs in the past 50 years but for a few players.
Maybe every team in America can say the same thing ... but we are suppose to get the Memphis kids. Especially after Cal left and that was out entire recruiting strategy! Now, we let the best one since Penny leave and it WILL be something we look back on.
Not to say all the losing and all the other stuff some of you have brought up won't be his downfall, but NONE OF THAT WOULD MATTER IF JOSH MADE AN ELITE 8 NEXT YEAR. And that's what I think this team would be capable of with Skal. That's why it's so big...

Some say Josh never had a chance with Skal. I know Skal certainly changed his mantra in his announcement. Sort of like Cal when he went to Ky.

If Josh never had a chance with Skal, isn't that the problem..

This should put the whole thing to rest; 450 is anything but a Pastner apologist. Blame him for what you want, and there's plenty to criticize, but this ain't one of them.

I think it all depends on perspective.
To a lot of folks recruiting is bottom line business - you either sign a kid or you don't.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I tend to agree...
BUT, at the end of the day - we didn't land him. And I think that we will look back on that unfortunate reality and recognize that it cost Pastner in the end. Skal could've made everything right for Josh.
Ben Howland went up against Calipari & UK and he won. So...it can be done. Maybe he had more "help" than Pastner had...but that's part of the issue IMO.

Maybe the "help" got tired of "helping" ?
That doesn't happen for no reason at all ...
part of the job is making sure you don't lose the "help"

It would only be "the" problem to unreasonable people.
Skal is the top player in his class according to some experts and a future top draft pick. He was recruited by every major program and surprise, he signed with Cal. He has a controlling influential adult making decisions about his future. There has been, according to many, a huge amount of money was floating around. None of it originated from Josh.
Kids make choices.
Adults force choices.
Money influences choices.
If his choice for whatever reason was Ky not Memphis it is not necessarily a failure by Josh.

I suppose, like football under Larry Porter, there is the hope he'll get better.
Fair enough to comment about some under achieving...but the idea that the team came a game short of elite level a few seasons and indeed had a tough season last year obscures anything positive or means that discussions do not have to be infested with mocking...constantly...is the point.
It is easier to take this post for example and respond with some nonsense like gee Mimi you enjoy mediocrity...but the reality is overall for the last half decade we have not been mediocre, let alone the fact that even those who refuse to mock...not refusing to be critical, believe another 18-14 season or similar should result in a move.
the derailments have been entertaining....but it is not a good thing when critical, but still positive fans, get assaulted.
2 games short of elite and the loss was a dismantling.
Being obnoxiously positive or negative will get you attacked on here.
Once you can understand that there is no moral high ground here you will understand.
Being an a-hole is being an a-hole whichever side if an argument you happen to be on.
That's the point you consistantly miss. Your mocking, bullying, post game threads are THE prime example of this.
RE: Despite everything, THIS is what will be Pastner's undoing.
This site might spin lopsidded into space if there weren't all types to balance it out.
If we make this all about polar opposites it's really too simplistic, but here goes anyway: Let's just say it starts with the posi posters reacting to what's known as the negative nellies, which in turn causes the posi-people to fight back. Sometimes the more protective posters on both sides will stand up in the name of all who have been beaten down. Everyone lives on the edge of reactions...pretty much, because of what has come before.
Every once in a while, though, both sides run out of energy simultaneously, and there is a lull. Not for long. Someone will start a thread to rile one side up again, or someone will take a thread and reform it to his own agenda. Maybe this is not done purposely. Maybe the fact that there is no resolution keeps driving people to do the same
thing over and over...I dunno. I had one psychology class in college.
This situation could also be explained like this: The highly reactive ones react to whatever until the reactions intensify and we are the serpent eating its own tail.
