People in wv don't have much to brag about. Gotta seize the opportunity to feel superior in the rare chance it arises.
Too funny.

Enjoy your 50 point whoopin' at halftime on Halloween. Im sure it will be one of many that UNCC will receive.
You better hope Doc does what he done at ODU and calls off the dogs. This could get quite ugly if he doesn't. It could start to look like the 2013 ODU/UNC game.
Or the times where Marshall got their butts kicked by VT, WVU and Wiscousin! UNCC just started playing in FBS! If Marshall were so good, they would try to move up! Marsha will always be in Conference USA as they are no East Carolina, Louisville or TCU. Marshall likes to bake cupcakes they don't like to compete! I know for a fact Marshall has been challenged many times by power 5 conferences and I'm willing to bet the athletic staff turned it down, because they don't want to compete with the big boys! Sure we get our butts kicked now by power 5 teams, but I guarantee in 10 years, ODU is going to be consistently in the top 10!

Top 25 AP poll. I didn't think I'd have to be specific.

I'm a huge ODU fan, but a statement like that, as much as I'd like to see it come true, sounds like a more than a stretch. I mean, there's nothing wrong with optomism, but that crosses over into "crazy" territory.

What if they did? If I'm insane, I guess the entire Nittany Lion community are all high off pot, because they believe this their season coming.

Right now I'd be happy with a top ten ranking in the G5 Poll, but the AP Top 25?
Not going to happen. lol.

2015, I like the way you hope but top 10 ain't happening any time soon. We will have a new stadium, couple of head coach changes, huge influx of cash and talent before that happens so its still far away.

The last 10 posts tell you why you needed to be specific....I was trying to see if you actually believed we could touch AP top 10 or you were talking about something else.
Unfortunately you were not talking about something else. As the others have expressed - consistent top 10 AP rankings are not in our near-term future.
Look at our schedule - even if we WERE to somehow be a powerhouse team, just by virtue of our schedule we would never be considered to be placed in that territory.
Marshall last year is a fantastic example. Undefeated almost the entire season - blowing teams out of the water. I don't believe they ever cracked the top 10. Why? Because of the schedule. We aren't anywhere near as good as that Marshall team right now.
Sorry brotha - but it just isn't in the cards in the near-term.

Not only will ODU not be in the top 10, it is almost a guarantee that no member of C-USA will ever field a top 10 team, much less be consistently in the top 10. It just isn't going to happen in today's college football environment.
Could ODU some day make the top 10? Yes, some time after they make a move to the ACC and become a full-fledged P-5 university. Lord only knows if that will ever happen, but I strongly suspect not in my lifetime.

I think it's more likely that we will be in the top 10 than the ACC. And I don't think the top 10 is likely at all. Let alone consistently. If we ever did join the ACC, it would be a league that is wholly unrecognizable from the league we know today.

Change is inevitable. There are many that would already say the conference is unrecognizable today from the conference they came to know and enjoy. It's all in the eyes of the beholder.
If some day conditions dictate an ODU move to the ACC, the Conference will, of course, be different, but I would venture to say that it would also maintain many of the elements it has today. Ahh -- it's all conjecture, but that's what makes it fun.

Top 10 in basketball I could see. Top 10 in football, no way. The system is stacked in favor of the Big 5 conference. Even more so with the new rule changes. It makes it very hard for teams from conferences like CUSA to have a shot.
Even if a team from outside the Big 5, i.e Boise State, cracked the top 10, I feel the major conferences would change the rules to make it harder for the smaller conference teams to do it again.

^That really sucks! Just because we make it there, it becomes inferior!! I hate inequality! TCU and Louisville were able to do it when they were in CUSA... Look at Boise State! Is it just our brand and lack of reputation?

The last round of realignment pretty much guaranteed no one else will be invited to the P5. And without being in one of those leagues, it becomes incrementally harder to break through. All of the teams you mentioned made their runs before they slammed the door on the rest of us. And it still wasn't enough for Boise to get a seat at the table.
All ODU and the rest of the G5 can do is continue to improve/invest in our programs and prepare for the small chance that something forces more realignment in our favor.

Not necessarily. It would requiring going undefeated plus playing a Tech-like schedule. If Tech beats K-State and Mississippi State (strong as last year teams) and runs the CUSA schedule. A top 8,9,10 would be realistic.
When Tech was in the WAC, Boise was ranked in that vicinity for several years and in 2010 Boise was 2nd in the AP poll. And Nevada was ranked close to 10 after beating Boise later that year.
