What up with the list of names on the walls? I understand all of them were great players but MOST ARE VISITING players that probably hep stomp a mud-hole on ODU.

The stadium was a New Deal (WPA) public works project built in 1936...
There was talk of us playing in one of those as well before we ultimately decided to build on campus.

Memorial Stadium in Charlotte was a New Deal project and is ironically located on the original campus of UNC Charlotte (back before it was a 4 year institution, or called UNC Charlotte). A community college is there today. Memorial Stadiums hosts a lot of HS football matchups, professional lacrosse, and soon USL Soccer, with hopes of eventually modernizing the stadium to accommodate MLS.

So did the AFL (Minor League) Carolina Chargers in the late 70s/early 80s with George Sauer as the Head Coach. Very successful team in that league with great crowds (20-25,000) in a stadium that seated ~25,000 at the time.

Check out the cover of John Greshim's book "Bleachers"

A drawing of Foreman Field is featured in the John Grisham novel Bleachers.

And the funny thing too is he said he was coming to our poorly designed stadium on Halloween to watch WKU lose.

Easy Marshmallow! They are just starting out, give em' a break man, seriously!

If you look at it, Marshall is a so called CUSA elite program in football. The "9ers" just came from an FCS conference and they can attract bigger crowds than your FBS games can! You might want to look at everything before you call someone pathetic!

Marshall way outdraws us.

Still, he's a douche.

I think we'll hear about expansion next year. I anticipate something in the 25,000 range. We have BoA stadium right down the road if we need more room. Realistically, CUSA games aren't going to draw more than 25,000 consistently anyway unless we become an elite G5 level program. If we do, the footprint of the stadium is designed to hold up to 60,000, so it isn't a problem.

It's a well designed stadium imo. Are they still talking temporary bleachers to expand?

The AD doesn't want to have temporary seating because we'd also have to bring in temporary restroom facilities. I'd be happy if we just threw up some upper levels on each side that look like what Georgia Southern installed last year. Looks great and I think they only cost like $5 million (could be wrong though). I know they weren't terribly expensive. One of those on each side would take us up to 25,000.

While I appreciate someone calling out Fever on his crap, this is a really bad argument.

That place looks prime to have an upper deck later on. It looks to be a great venue with room to grow.

FYI - Expansion to 40k requires no structural changes on that base. Just the vertical additions. Was designed for that purpose. Can go to 60k maximum, though that would require some structural changes.

CUSA fans can assist the 49er fanbase in making that a reality by showing up in force for road games @ Charlotte. A season of unfulfilled ticket requests will likely result in cranes on site.

It is a very pretty stadium, and I do believe opposing fans will really enjoy it. It blends in beautifully with the surrounding campus buildings and trees.
