According to the box score for last night's game we had 4100 for a midweek game against Nicholls friggin St. Forecast is looking good for the weekend so I'm expecting great attendance numbers for the stAte series. Only other major event going on around the complex is our spring game, which will be Saturday at 5, after baseball, which is at 2.

Paid attendance. No way there were 4,100 there last night.

Yeah I wasn't fully buying the number. I passed by there on my way home from work at 6 and there weren't nearly enough cars in the parking lot to make me believe that there were 4100 butts in the seats.

I wonder why baseball seems to count paid attendance, but football seems to count butts in seats as evidenced by the folks at the gates of Cajun Field with clickers in hand.
It was announced a little into baseball season we will now announce paid not actual, like everyone else does. It was a good crowd but not 4100.

We count fans through the gates, but it would be nice if everyone got on the same page!

We used to as well but if trust, most don't. I promise you lsu doesn't come anywhere close to avg 10k in actual attendance.

3,557 - Louisiana Lafayette (7)
1,478 - South Alabama (20)
1,431 - Texas State (12)
1,307 - Georgia Southern (19)
1,184 - Louisiana Monroe (13)
1,154 - Troy (16)
512 - Arkansas State (4)
441 - Appalachian State (6)
357 - Texas Arlington (8)*
223 - Arkansas Little Rock (8)
215 - Georgia State (18)

Sun Belt Average: 1,078

*Texas Arlington played a game against Texas in Globe Life Park. This game isn't counted as a true home game. However, if you did count it UTA's attendance for this game their average would go up to 775 and the SBC average would go up to 1,116.

I understand why ASU has only had 4 home games... But why have the Cajuns only played 7 home games?

we are the home team in games at globe life. the 4123 at that ut-austin game would not fit in our ballpark. I think the Gould holds 1600. we have played a-m and tcu over there too. those games attract pretty large crowds and are a pretty neat experience for the players and fans.

Then if I'm not mistaken, since that park is in your city and if the game is included in your season ticket package, then it counts towards your home game attendance. So UTA's attendance average would in fact be 775 and the SBC average would jump to 1,116.

students get in free and the school runs free shuttles back and forth. I think it was 8$ for general public...about the price of one beer at the game..

Honestly until we build the new stadium our attendance will continue to lag...besides we have a major league and a AAA team in the same town.

Under official attendance, they are number 1 at 10,200 and change avg... No sir, that is sold not actual. They actually have the ticket exchange where they sell the same ticket twice. They average sellouts yet you can watch any midweek game with a 2/3 empty stadium. I prefer everyone reported actual because I think we do better than most with actual humans in the game. Go check tulane attendance figures, Latech attendance figures and look at pictures of the games.

His comment still stands. LSU is one of the few to report both figures. Their paid is the one that is on the ranking, but they do report paid and actual on the box scores.

I take it back ... they apparently don't do it anymore. If you look at box scores from years past, they official attendance would be tickets sold, but they would also list the actual attendance in the notes section.

The Cajuns most certainly don't announce actual attendance.

I understand, but that doesnt change what he said. You said LSU doesnt average close to 10k in the stands. He said they list both (they at least used to). Obviously the one that is counted in the NCAA or NCBWA report is the paid attendance. But you could also until this year, go look at their box scores and see that they, in fact, dont have 10k in the stands most games just like you said. I dont think the guy was contradicting you.

If we want to be seen as an true athletic conference, it needs to start with us and attendance to all of our sports need to rise.

Echoing gls, I expect very little to change with our baseball attendance until we change facilities. As long as our field is in Panthersville, and barring some brilliant marketing on the part of our athletic department, we have a better shot at boosting sand volleyball attendance than baseball.

I do appreciate that no one chimed in with, "215? I had a friend there, and he said there weren't more than 75, 100 TOPS!"

I wasn't going to bring this up, but after seeing Panthersville, I don't know where you can fit 200 people.

I've been to a sand volleyball event, first there weren't 200 spectators there, maybe 50. Second, that's a damn shame cause sand volleyball events are very easy on the eyes.

Bringing the venues to campus or at least closer to campus is a must for Ga State. Who wants to walk five miles up hill in a mind field with snow shoes on just to catch a Ga state game? Move the fb games to a smaller venue easier to attend with some shade for tailgating. One perfectly fine stadium that would work fine sits vacant just a few blocks from campus. What's up with that?01-wingedeagle
