RE: Sun Belt Expansion Elections - Run off
I initially voted for JMU. Mainly because I think they would be the most accepted. Is it the chicken of the egg? Does SBC first decide to expand (if ever) and then select a candidate? or, Does the SBC want to look at the candidates and then consider expansion?

Just out of curiosity, why do you have Southern Miss in this poll? Have there been some rumblings that I haven't heard about? I sort of figured they were not only happy but steadfast with CUSA.

They were nominated and had the primary votes to make the cut.

Your guess is as good as mine. I think it's safe to say that Southern Miss is happy in CUSA, as they are in the middle of the footprint and can compete in most sports. Although their football is down right now, it'll bounce back. A move to the Sun Belt for them would be a lateral move for them, so what's the point?
My votes go to JMU, Missouri State, EKU, UTC, and then Liberty. In that order, too.

JMU gets the nod over Liberty for me because the racist King Karl Hess didn't go to your school.

Karl doesn't claim LU so please don't hold him against us. Look this poll is cool and I'm glad Purple wants to campaign and all, but JMU admin doesn't want SBC. Liberty does and is ready. Anyway the bigger question is will SBC ever expand?

There are rumors, whether legit or not, that Notre Dame is going to be joining the ACC in football and the ACC will be adding a 16th member for football. There would have to be some contract negotiations between NBC and ESPN of course for that to happen as ESPN has ACC under contract and NBC has ND. Apparently, Notre Dame previously was resistant, but now appears the easiest way to the Playoffs is winning a conference championship. With no affiliation to a conference, it will be more difficult for ND to reach the Playoffs. Some of the teams mentioned for the 16th were Cincinnati, UConn, Penn State, West Virginia. This probably all is only rumor, but if true, it could shake things up again. Also, I think Texas State and Georgia State were mentioned as potential 16th teams for the ACC.

Clearly, you guys have not kept up with the JMU alumni/fans opinion. We have only very few posters who side with the administration and whether those few would admit it or not, should we ever be in the SB, those few will say they were only creating some space for our admin from the pack of wolves.

Right there with you Stan, right there with you .... ... . I mean, why would he suggest that we're possible candidates for the ACC? When everyone knows we're CUSA bound. . . .

GT would burn ATL down before letting GaState in the ACC. You have to be joking.

My question for Liberty would be can they recruit and get players there to compete at the FBS level. Liberty has not been exactly a dominate football program by any stretch at the FCS level. They have fielded some good teams at times but overall they haven't been very competitive over the last 20 years. Competitive in the area of playoff caliber program at FCS. It really doesn't matter to me, the folks doing all the deciding know more than me about what they want to bring in, but that would be my concern.
