Like your GPA. Once it starts to fall it is hard to get it back up.

We've turned into the other Georgia Tech. They made a Final Four and haven't done squat since.

I think as long as Pastner is there you will continue to fade a little each year. But then again, most of you get that. Have Fred Smith cough up some dough, buy the guy out and then go get another coach.

What makes it extra hard is, once you vanish from the national scene for a few years, it's hard to recruit the type of talent you need to become relevant again.

RE: Relevancy
I think that this all depends on (a) the level of Memphis HS talent and (b) who the coach is. We can be relevant VERY quickly provided (a) and (b) above occur simultaneously.

We are still drawing great attendance #'s (not history-wise, but relative to other D-1 programs), have great facilities, are in a very good conference (down this year, I know). There is no reason we can't be relevant again very, very quickly.

That's because they did just what a large group of fans want the university to do. That is, they put more resources into football than basketball because football is the driving force behind college sports, so everyone says. Many posters on this site want the same thing. It is a difficult thing to do especially for a schools that lack money, like Memphis.

Nothing is moving in the right direction w/ this bb program. Irrelevant...yes. Nobody is talking about Memphis hoops, except the occasional slam (not slam dunks, but slam like they suck)

Football.....ahh, what a blessing
