Yes...similar form to Pippen.

The arc of improvement for Crawford and Kedren has been impressive. Should continue into AAC tourney and next season. Good stuff.

Agreed. KJ could always play but he needed to get the rust off and the pounds. How he played last night was similar to his games at Vandy.

Crawford is young stud who is only going to get better.

Crawford played tremendously. Pastner has done an excellent job with this young man.

He had many great ones, but after an entire game of shutting down Boatright, that play was the icing on the cake. You'd have thought Markel was the favorite for conference player of the year, he was just toying with Boatright. Reminded me of AA and Robert Vaden/DJ Augustin/etc

If you really watched him on defense, with his arms up and active hands he was within inches of at least another 4-5 touches and/or steals on passes that he read....so close....great game Markel!

Yeah, he seems very fearless driving to the basket and slamming it home. Reminds me more of a smaller Carney, than anyone else. Everything from his shot to the way he dunks.

Looking forward to watching in continue to develop.

We saw last night the reason KJ was considered a high level transfer last year. Let's hope the upward trend continues.

One can see the confidence growing in Markel with each additional minute played. The young man can get after if on the defensive end at an elite level. Austin is already playing D at an elite level.

Agree on the improvement in both Crawford and Nichols. On a lesser scale, Shaq and Kedren have shown improvement as well, just not in a smooth, consistent manner.

Nichols did give up that back door lob a few too many times, but was a threat offensively. The Huskies had no answer for him.

Markel does not look like a young man who's come back from 2 serious knee injuries. Plays with total abandon and great leaping.

Markel's defense on Boatright was exceptional. The longer the game went on, the more frustrated Boatright got. Great game by Markel on both ends of the floor. Memphis own, Memphis proud. GO TIGERS!!!!

RE: A Big Salute to Markel Crawford
Guys played great. Saw some pick and roll, saw some back door cuts which uconn killed us on last year. It was nice to see us giving it instead of getting it. Overall defense looks alot better. I think we've finally settled on a starting five. I think pookie and king need to get the minutes off the bench. Guys are buying in, even if UCONN isn't what they were last year, they have some really good players, way better than CBU. Pastner did a good job on this game plan. Take Boatwright out and make the others beat you. The bigs recovered better, we had a ton of blocks. Of course we also shot better than we had all year. Somebody's motivating these kids.

Yes. And kudos to Josh for recognizing that Boatright is too good for one guy to match up with (at least one of our guys). Markel was active on defense and played well, but let's not act like it was a one on one match up.

Markel was the QB of the zone and kept one eye on Boatright all night. He stayed aware and didn't give him a single good look while he was in. Boatright buried a wide open 3 when Markel was off the floor and he was immediately put back in.

I don't understand why some can't give credit to these kids when it is so clearly warranted.

It was still a zone and not one on one. Some were comparing this to AA shutting down Robert Vaden. That was truly one on one. It's a whole lot different matching up with a guy all over the floor than it is just guarding an area.

He played well, I already said that. I'm just not going to go over the top for one guy when it was clearly a team effort that shut down Boatright.

And what does "QB of the zone" mean? In a zone, everyone already should know what they are doing, you don't need a QB to tell people what to do and where to go. If you do, you are probably in a lot of trouble.

RE: A Big Salute to Markel Crawford
So, I guess that MC1 didn't get any ESPN Top 10 Love?
I thought that the last one over Brimah (I think) would have surely qualified and, at worst, the combination of the 3 gliding slams should have been worthy.

(Hope my details are correct - I have slept twice since then.)
