ISU has great basketball and won the B12 tourney last March. They're presently ranked 13th in the AP, ranked 20th last season in attendance, and averaged 14,000. It also has one of the nation's premier wrestling programs. In Iowa wrestling approaches basketball in popularity.

I've been to multiple Memphis football games through the years. Maybe you have some crazy passionate fans. I really like how they all dress up as empty seats.

He's overstating the case, but we did have the ECU game where we had 4K actual fans in the stands. Rain predicted all day, poor record, 20K+/- tickets sold, only 4K actual fans attended. We've lagged ECU in attendance, but he is overstating.

Yes, our attendance has been bad but so has our football. I said that Memphis owns the city, which they disagreed and that is just ignorant. All you have to do is drive around the city or look up the license plate study.
I would bet a lot more then UCF or USF in their own cities.

Really? What about the Orlando TV reporter who reported that UCF was about to be invited to the Big East in the summer of 2010? I doubt he made that up out of thin air. I didn't save the link, but I clearly recall it. He was widely ridiculed. And Memphis officials were having those same talks, and thought UCF and Memphis were going in then.
Not to mention, Memphis officials knew UCF was headed to the Big East for weeks before it actually happened in late 2011. Nothing this big is ever kept completely in house.
There were plenty of speculation pieces during the BE expansion. UCF wasn't the source. To be fair, I don't think Memphis or Cincy is talking outside of class either. Media types make a living by dealing in conjecture. Doesn't mean the schools are the source. Our troll is likely Mike Bianchi, who could hardly be called a UCF fan. Gator troll all the way.
Yep. And when Memphis actually made it to the Big East in February of 2012, word didn't make the media until the night before the announcement.
Memphis & UCF were always next in line for the Big East (Memphis should have been before USF). The problem was the upsetting the delicate 8-8 BE balance.
Wrong...as UCF was invited to join the Big East (officially) in 2011...as Memphis wasn't invited to join the Big East till 2012...AFTER UCF, Houston and SMU were invited months earlier.

All this conjecture and speculation is fun but whatever happens will be based on pure greed. The teams that can generate the most income not just today but more importantly in the future will be the ones that move up. UCF being the second largest university in the country and in the 19th largest tv market will certainly make them a candidate. Meanwhile the AAC is certainly the best G5 conference imo.

I'm not from Iowa and have no stake in who, what, or where ISU fans come from, and am not a fan of the school.
But I would hazard a guess that ISU has far more fan support than USF in either basketball, football, or . . . . . . . . wrestling. And for someone to make the statement "anyone watch ISU sports???" shows someone who lacks knowledge of the facts, and who probably had no clue about their basketball success and attendance.

i personally think the end will be melodramatic. something like 10-15 of the teams you would have expected to get the call, get absorbed all at the same time with some huge conference restructure...... and we all will be scratching our collective head and say "what just happened?.....well, that is that"..... and move on retiring the realignment threads once and for all.
