CAN'T be a projection of what they think it would be, only who they think is the best so far.
Which when you consider those 3 being on each others schedule, and the outcomes either way... makes this whole thing for now a big waste of time.
I hope they wind up with about 9 1 loss teams and Marshall stays undefeated.
Marshall doesn't get in ahead of any 1 loss P5 champ.
A G5 won't make it in period. Not in a 4 team playoff.
Unless they give up two home game and play a hell of and OOC schedule. The likelyhood of that happening is about zero.

Top rated G5 is ECU at #23. Marshall was, very predictably to those of us who don't live in CUSA fantasy land, not ranked.
So no change to the entirety of college football history.

Anybody bored enough to do a graphic / chart of all the undefeated / one loss teams that still have to play each other?

Ran into MANY App fans that were wearing Red at the NC State game.
All of my buddies that went to App are UNC fans first, App fans second.
It's just something we (Charlotte, App, and to a lesser extent ECU) have to deal with unfortunately unless our schools suddenly start competing for national championships. I'm sure things are the same for you guys in Georgia.
You need new friends.
How convenient, he only calls those type of people friends. The other App fans he may know don't give two craps about UNC CHeat so they must not get his Christmas cards.
Those type of people? wtf does that even mean?
Sorry, I don't choose my friends based on their college sports allegiances. I don't care if they cheer for Chapel Hill or Duke. If they're Carolina fans, it just makes it easier to make fun of them now.
I don't really know many App people other than my close friends. None of my coworkers went to App. I have a few casual acquaintances I hang out with on occasion that went to App, but they're not really sports fans at all.
If it makes you feel any better, a former roommate of mine went to Chapel Hill, but he considered himself an App fan first because he grew up in Boone.

Even then they won't get in. I think they said at the start the playoff is only for P5 schools.
I don't get why they have to come up with an opinion biased way of selecting teams. make it 8-16 and let the conference champs in tat then have a system from there. Just like every other sport in history. Why reinvent the wheel?

The 21/16 team playoff
1. 1st round - Conference Champions decided (regular season champ or championship game winner) 10 conference champs automatic births - on or before December 1st
2. The six next highest ranked teams by the CFP committee. Then seeded by ranking.
3. 2nd round - 16 teams (8 games) - held on or before December 14th - home field of highest ranked team
4. 3rd round - 8 teams (4 games) - (on or before January 1st) - rotate bowls
5. 4th round - 4 teams (2 games) - on or before January 10th
6. Championship game - on or before January 18th
* The 21 comes from:
10 G5 teams vying for Conference Championship
10 P5 teams vying for Conference Championship
1 Notre Dame
** The assumption is that all of the P5 runner ups will still make the playoff plus Notre Dame. If Notre Dame has a sucky year then a third SEC team will probably make it into the playoff.

RE: First CFB Playoff Poll is out
2009 and 2010 both had G5 teams in the top 4 of the final, pre-bowl BCS rankings. I know the system is different now, but I do think there is a series of events (probably involving a string of successful years for a G5 team) that will lead to a playoff berth.

They will expand to 8 before a G5 makes the top 4.

And it's debatable whether a G5 will make the playoffs even then. The p5 want the G5 out of the major bowl picture completely.

Doesn't make me feel a whole lot of confidence in the format.
Oh and ND gets the match up vs #23 ECU in the Peach Bowl, egg in the face. I am a closet ECU fan, but I will be the first to say ND would blow them out.

Two SEC teams, FSU, and Notre Dame in the playoffs and the Big 12, Pac 12, and B10 get screwed. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Careful what you wish for a-holes, because you just might get it.
If three P5 champs are left out, how is that different than what it was under the BCS? Four out of six AQ conferences were left out every year, five out of six the year it was Bama vs LSU.

Bingo that is why they needed a committee.
They needed to rid themselves of the TCU and Boise type programs. The first level Utah , Louisville , TCU were good enough to invite in . That is as an all around candidate so other sports and academics. The latter they just locked out and includes UCF, ECU type schools. They are lacking in something like basketball success or academics.

Disagreed entirely. With a strong resume, think a G5 could get in over a 2 loss P5 champ from somewhere other than the SEC. I think even with Marshall's crap resume this year they get in over most 3 loss P5 champs.

I think the 8 team format is P5 champs plus 3 at large with a conditional G5 slot similar to the non-AQ conditional spot in the BCS.

I think we'll eventually see this too. The G5 spot will always get seeded 8th and play the #1 seed and lose every time.

Yep with the 8 team format we could have those 6 P5 champions I had mentioned before
