Been thinking about UT basketball this morning and started searching websites for information about the schedule. If I find anything other than what's posted below, I'll post that too.
I have no idea how accurate this is, but according to this site (which appears to be using a University of Detroit fan site as the source) Detroit, Bucknell and Florida Atlantic will be visiting Toledo in November as part of the Legends Classic.
Again, I don't know if this right. Just passing it along.
And we've discussed this before (somewhere I think we have a thread about college basketball tournaments we'd like the Rockets to be in, and I voted for the Great Alaska Shootout. I still think that would be a good trip, but I don't know anything about what goes into those decisions or what coach Kowalczyk would think about a trip to Anchorage). Regardless, I think someone mentioned in that thread that he didn't like these kinds of "classics" like the Legends Classic (Toledo was in a similar setup last season) because it doesn't seem like a tournament. I agree with that. Get in a 4-team tournament (or host them like the women do, or at least did last season).
I'm old enough to remember the Glass City Classic in Centennial Hall. Three teams came to Toledo: 2 games on consecutive nights. On day 2 the day 1 losers met in a consolation game, the day 1 winners in the championship game. Having the men host something like that again would be OK with me, though I'm not sure teams would come to Toledo for it. As mentioned above, teams don't seem interested in coming to Savage.
Enough of my rambling. Here's the link. You'll have to go down the page to find the info about the Legends Classic. This site lists a number of early season tournaments.
