RE: "New" App State logo
Here's the problem with some of you guys:
You attack anybody that doesn't share your opinion. I, personally, am not a fan of bringing back the 1971 version of Yosef as our secondary logo. Do I think it is a bad move? Not really, seeing as sales are up on it, but do I like the move? Not so much.

You all keep saying that the sales are up on it. I can agree with that, but it was only recently reintroduced. People are buying it because it is vintage. When it becomes mainstream again, will it have the same reaction from App State fans or will the fans just say, "I never really liked that logo anyways?"

I am not harshing on anybody, but if somebody doesn't share your opinion, you don't have to be a complete *** to them and tell them why they are wrong. They aren't wrong and you aren't right. You're not wrong and they're not right. It's called an opinion for a reason... they're all different.

RE: "New" App State logo
An opinion is not liking the logo, no issue there.

Stating your opinion is in the majority when evidence suggests otherwise is not an opinion.

Then stating our administration did nothing during the moratorium when it ended Sept. 1, 2011, App released its FBS study on 8/22/11 http://www.appstatesports.com/ViewArticl...205246191, while talking with three different conferences during the process is yet another example of inaccurate information regarding App athletics.

It is a secondary logo, one that the fanbase begged to bring back, then voted with their wallets. Good for our leaders in listening.

Didn't say the administration became a convent during the moratorium, but nothing close to what many expected or hoped for was accomplished.
You have no way to know that the vintage yosef is going to be accepted.
Hope all you want, but will take some time to really know.
Who was begging for it to come back? Never saw anything but random mention. As for them voting with their wallets, they have very little choice right now. Once again inaccurate information from your perspective regarding evidently what is near and dear to your view.

We have used the symbol basically of Grandfather's Mountain which is a few miles from campus. Some do not like that one though because what they call the Gordon's Fisherman is at the forefront.

No beautiful majestic mountains. No Gordon fisherman.

Soooo, what you're saying is, App Fans don't have a problem with other people snickering at them. Mad props bro. That takes a lot of cojones.

I just don't get how, in this moment when App is looking to the FUTURE of their program, they go and whip out 1971 like it's back in fashion.

We use a logo from the 70s, and you run an offense from the 70s. Both seem to be working for their respective institutions. 02-13-banana

If Charlie Cobb likes the old Yosef, he should go with this one.

If this is true and somebody can actually post data supporting those claims, then I guess that is all that matters. However, as an outsider like most not a fan. There is tradition and then there is just a bad looking logo. I guess as an App fan you are going to be biased towards tradition and seeing through mountaineer glasses so I get. I still like the old GaSou logo over the new ones so I guess I may fall into this category as well. Not bashing, JMO, I think App can do better.

App can do a lot better.

I couldn't disagree more. App did better by 1) never making the old fisherman logo sparkle and 2) by getting ride of that logo and replacing it with one that is unique and marketable to students, fans, and alums.
Do not appreciate the personal attacks either against myself or my personal logo.

What do you mean, " by getting ride of that logo and replacing it with one that is unique and marketable to students, fans, and alums."
Do you mean R-I-D?

You know, funny thing about several people that say they like the bald old corn cob smoking Yosef. Almost all of them mention that it is unique and marketable. Same exact term.
Yes, it may be unique, because no one has wanted one like it.

It wasn't intended to be a personal attack. I'm simply stating my opinion on that sparkly thing just as you're doing about the Vintage/Victory Yosef.

Of course I meant "rid," my fat thumbs got in the way.

The reason people say it's marketable is because it was the sales generated the last two years by Vintage/Victory Yosef merchandise that spurred the adoption of it as a secondary logo. There's really no debate about that.

Please define "no one," because I am "one" that is glad to see it added as a secondary logo. In fact, I've had a shirt with that logo on it for the last 8 years, that was worn in Ann Arbor for the Michigan game.

You're entitled to your opinions, but they are not facts (neither are mine). I'm not trying to be a jerk here, and certainly didn't intend anything as a personal attack. My point is that we all have opinions, and we haven't gotten rid of the block A. Vintage/Victory Yosef is just a secondary logo, I just don't get all of the fuss about it.

Were you paying attention during the FBS decision process. They had hoped to get an FBS invite in 2012 and worked very hard with FBS conferences, but those conferences chose "markets" over on the field and revenue generation results. Is it their fault App is located in Boone vs. ATL or CLT? Come on man you can't wish something and make it happen, sometimes even when you work at something it doesn't happen.

As for the new logo it has been accepted, do you always choose to disregard evidence to the contrary of your opinion. The people with better and more accurate information than you or I have made a decision to change it. So should I trust their judgement or your hunches?

I gave it the benefit of the possibility of it not being so much an intended personal attack as much as just two people ardent in their beliefs of what they thought best or better for their school. Sometimes the lines come close to being blurred when both are fixed in their side of an argument.

Best case scenario will be that the bookstore continues to sell a ton of the Vintage/Victory Yosef's that you like and maybe one day a more fierce looking Yosef will emerge as another secondary logo.

This, bringing back something vintage usually only works for awhile. Teams just go back to something short term, like throwbacks. If App fans are still buying it at the same rate two or three years from now will be the indicator and all that really matters. Pot to kettle but most outsiders like me looking in that are not emotionally tied or have a good knowledge on App traditions just do not get or like logo. Same goes with a lot of traditions and symbols at colleges though, so need to get all defensive. A lot of folks even ones who have been playing us for years still do not get "Beautiful" Eagle Creek, are plain uni's or why we ride in old yellow school buses to the stadium. I bet this is a fun topic on the App forum. 01-lauramac2

This logo resurfaced two years ago and has been the main logo used for the MMB since the site moved from Delphi. I don't recall reading a word of 70's venomous opposition till the thing got bad press recently. Now I can't read an App or SBC forum without seeing him blow the thing out of proportion. He's actually talking about a huge recruiting impact on the MMB. 03-lmfao

So you're a fan of the Popeye Yosef, 70? I have a feeling you'd be bashing it on every message board possible if we added that logo and there was subsequent media backlash. Come on, man.
