RE: Liberty and Independence OFFICALLY out
Maybe a dumb question, but what is the pick for the Big 12? Will they always fill it?Thanks.

I think it is their 5 or 6 so I would assume most years they will fill their side of it. I don't think they official announced the order for their middle tier of picks.

RE: Liberty and Independence OFFICALLY out
I think there will be years where something in that SEC pool doesn't get filled depending on how good the top of the SEC is and how bad the bottom is. A year like last season where they would have had 4 or maybe even 5 in the playoffs/access bowls they wouldn't have filled the entire pool. The AAC needs to be the top backup to everything in the pool and maybe every other year one of the bowl pool goes unfilled and the AAC champ can go there.

RE: Liberty and Independence OFFICALLY out
Haven't checked the SEC Schedule but the ACC in 2014 really setup with making teams bowl elgible with 2014 OOC. Assuming ND, Louisville, Clemson, FSU and VT make bowls like they normally do. Baring no major upsets here is how the rest of the Conf should look. 4 teams have an easier path to bowls(Pitt, UNC, NCSU and Wake). Making 9 teams elgible. Not out of the question 1-3 of the remaining 6 have bowl elgible records. If SEC lower level teams do the same, it should be a similar scenario. Only difference I see the SEC with more than 2-5 teams in the ACCESS Bowls not so likely for the ACC.
http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/acc-foot...edules.php
2014 OOC
BC 3 - 1 or 2-2
Duke 3 - 1 or 2-2
GT 3 - 1 or 2-2
Miami 3 - 1 or 2-2
NCSU 4-0 or 3-1 (Figure NCSU drops either USF or CMU, if they drop USF 4-0 is likely)
Pitt 4-0 or 3-1
Syr ??
UNC 4-0 or 3-1
UVA 3 -1 or 2-2
Wake 4-0 or 3-1

Shreveport is not a "hole" but definitely not a week-long visit. If the game is tuesday fly in sunday night and leave wednesday morning.

Two or three days is all I ever stay for a bowl game anyway, no matter where it is. I am still hoping to go to the Independence Bowl some day, having no doubt that I can have a great time there (or anywhere else Memphis plays - it's about the football, you know).

the Indy Bowl is in the worst part of Shreveport and it takes forever to park. The main thing to do in Shreveport/Bossier is casinos and they have a boardwalk for shopping

Memphis and Shreveport probably aren't much more than 300 miles apart. You could drive it in 5-6 hours.
I've been to one Indy bowl and it was fun. The stadium is old-school (metal bleechers, no food courts and luxury suites, LOL, at least not in 1997) and the town isn't Las Vegas or Orlando but as you say, it's about the football, and the bowl does have a lot of character and history to it. Gets pretty good local support. Similar to the Liberty Bowl in that regard.

At least the Independence Bowl has some casinos near it. Birmingham is just a dump---If there's not an SEC team then there's not much to like.

The worst thing about the BHAM bowl is its their LAST choice. That means no matter if we win or lose it will still be scoffed at in the SEC.
When its not filled it will most likely be be a Sun Belt team.
I like the idea of moving to G5 vs G5 games in our own bowl games. Who cares about playing the other schools bottom feeders.
Boca Raton vs CUSA. Sounds great.
Miami vs MWC rotating with LA vs MWC. Sounds great.
Hawaii vs MWC/CUSA. Sounds great.
I like the schools in CUSA. I would rather play UTEP or USM in a bowl game over a 6-6 Kentucky team.

No, it certainly doesn't, but if you're going to rant and rave on here so much, at least get your facts straight.

I doubt it since it's in that bowl pool. There's not going to be a suitable permanent home for the champ, and likely a bowl as good as the Liberty isn't one that won't get filled. I could certainly see the Indy Bowl not getting filled and Bham, but Liberty is high enough that I'd say they'll fill it every year.

Frank man, if you read the entire thread, you would know I came back and agreed with that, after I realized the LB moved up from a low pick to a mid-tier pick.
BTW, if you're a Pitt fan, WTH are you here? All you do is spout the same lame negative stuff with almost every post.
