Disagree. We could get better money in the Big East basketball only. And continue to build the football program in the likes of conference USA. And make ourselves more attractive to the big 12 or ACC in the future.

What are you smokin? You need to read up on re-alignment news over the past few years.

CUSA doesn't want football/basketball only members. Heck UAB almost got pitched out after their football team was almost permanently dismantled.

If the recent news about UCONN pans out going to the bigeast we'd do well to follow suit. I was calling this years ago. It's happening.

UConn is one of the worst football teams in our conference and only getting worse. They are a joke!!!!
Basketball will get you NOWHERE in the current climate and they are proof. They are wanting to join the BE because they are sick of getting their tails handed to them in football and know it will lead them nowhere.

And you want Memphis to follow the same path!?!!! 03-puke03-puke

Truthfully, my feeling is that after going 100-0 for the WBB while the FB and BB teams are tanking, the sportswriters/media in Storrs HAS to think of something to write about during this time of year.

Question RE: P5 will split and take the BIGEAST with them.
When the P5 break away and form their own division they will need more basketball teams. Thus they will take the Big East with them. You think that UCONN, with ESPN in its backyard, doesn't know what is about to happen? Do you think that UCONN would move to the Big East ignorantly? There is going to be a new division in college sports. It will consist of around 80 schools. Around 10 to 15 of which will come from the basketball only big east conference. When it happens, if we are not already in the Big East for all of the other Olympic sports including basketball, we will be left out forever. Get ready to say grit and grind forever. Because tiger athletics will be relegated to Division II status with the southern Mississippi's and UAB's of the world.

RE: Join C7 in BigEast, & CUSA for football
I personally can't wait for that day. If we get in GREAT.

If we don't, I am all for hanging it up and going down to the lowest athletic division possible. That way the university can concentrate on the important parts of higher education and we don't keep hoping, dreaming, crying, supporting, attending an "amateur" athletic endeavor that the cards are so blatantly stacked against us that we have no hopes of winning anything ever.

I say we make this final push and if significant expansion happens again and we are a viable candidate and we are left out, we should tip our hat and walk away from the whole gigantic pile of steaming crap.

I am getting really tired of this P5 predicament and I don't understand how it could possibly be legal or why congress hasn't stepped in to try and fix it.

If you think the P5 will add basketball only schools, you are 01-wingedeagle

They MIGHT take champions of basketball only leagues to play in THEIR tourney, but that is about it. NO Conference will get inclusion into that league... EVER!!!!

I could EASILY see them keeping P5 only and dropping down to a 32 team tourney before ever including basketball only schools into the mix.

Ya, the Big East already tried that model and it flopped...

If the day comes, there will probably still be some last minute shuffling for basketball schools to get in on the basketball-only side of the business. Us, Cincy, some of the A10. But for now, you keep playing the game and supporting football.

RE: Join C7 in BigEast, & CUSA for football
Similar posts have popped up on other sites. I'd entertain the thought but only if we joined the Big East in basketball only and were an AAC or MWC school in all other sports. CUSA is too weak.

That being said, there's a lot of contract talk that would have to take place.

I'm for anything that revitalizes basketball as I believe it drives the entire ship as far as university/athletic department revenue. But can't cut off our nose to spite our face.
