Lawmaker says CIA director ended secret program ... begun after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks

I have to think this program helped keep us safe. I'm sure the democrats will say the civil rights of a terrorist come before national security.

Mostly, people have forgotten, With the MSM, it's Oprah, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, SwoonOverObama, Everything is America's fault. But the War on Terror, Muslim Extremists, Stoning and Honor Killing of Women, Shria Law, Nuclear Iran and NK, -- Not so much.

Quote:The House is expected to take up the 2010 intelligence authorization bill next week. It includes a provision that would require the White House to inform the entire committee about upcoming covert operations rather than just the "Gang of Eight"_ the senior members from both parties on the House and Senate Intelligence Committees and the Democratic and Republican leaders in both houses.

The White House this week threatened to veto the final version of the bill if it includes that provision.
Seems like Obama gets it. A bill like this does nothing but hamstring the CIA's ability to perform its mission.

How can an op be covert if every freaking body knows about it?

Based on what?

Are you suggesting that sectors of the government be allowed to do whatever they want, whenever they want, without answering to anyone?

That's not a particularly conservative point-of-view.

Watch and see if Panetta doesn't resign in not too much longer time.

Panetta may be an Uber-Liberal, but he has never been a Puppet and I don't think he is going to be one now.

And not too many folks on the Hill or any where else want to mess with him to the point they have pissed him off really good.

Old Chums with Pelosi or not, Panetta will not bow down or back off - - he may hold onto his manners for a while, but pretty soon the Steam is going to Explode from the Cauldron and something will have to give.

He doesn't need the job and won't put up with Crap for long at all.

Or at least the Panetta I remember would not have done it for anyone.

If he does stay, he will stay under HIS Terms and say what he thinks when he thinks it - - Pelosi picked the wrong Italian to mess with on this one.

So the CIA shuts down an illegal, or at least unauthorized, half-assed operation and that means people have forgotten 9/11?

OK, if the operation goes beyond "warrantless" electronic surveilence ... what could it involve that has everyone running scared?

How about warrantless "black bag" (breaking and entering) operations on U.S. residents or maybe even US mosques?

Perhaps it involves surveilence on US Politicians?

I agree.. this is just an excuse to give Pelosi cover.

No kidding... and even sometimes the "Gang of Eight" (or maybe someone on their staff) are the source of leaks to the Washington Post. Jane Harman was suspected of being a leaker during the Bush Administration.

Me thinks the CIA will just STOP doing their job to avoid going in front of the Gang of Eight, House and Senate Intelligence Committees and the Democratic and Republican leaders in both houses. and

BTW the "House and Senate Intelligence Committees" is a contradiction in terms.

Or they will drop below the Radar so Low, that only God will know where they are and what they are doing.

Panetta is no Yes Man and he will either do his Job or he will Walk.

Panetta knows the score and the lives of his Agents are in HIS hands, not Nancy Pelosi's lying old pruned ass.

Another example of the creep of government. Every program always expands beyond the original scope and rarely every retreats once established. There is NO incentive to do so. If you owned a business that could print money and steal from patrons...plus...everyone had to shop there....you would not give a rat's ass who you hurt, what bad service you gave or the what the quality of your products were. You would essentially be government!!04-cheers

Well, I hate this country-just like Michelle Obama. At least that is what Trippy says since I have not been in the military killing people like he has. You can only be a patriot if you go kill people in a war.

I'm pretty sure I've said it before. I grew up in NJ watching the WTC as they rose above the Lower Manhattan skyline. When they were hit the wife of a friend of mine died. My ex-wife, who had moved from So Cal to Jersey City, directly across the Hudson from the WTC, said she saw people with towels on their heads standing on roof tops and cheered and recjoiced when they fell. When the winds shifted my elderly parents in Fort Lee had to breathe the air that was filled with death.

The above picture disturbs me. The videos I see on TV disturb me. As a patriotic American I never had my revenge and I'm sick of apologetic liberals who are trying like hell to prevent it.

Anyone who could look back at that day and think it was a one-in-a-million oddity is insane. People want to kill us and anybody in this country who criticizes how we go about preventing it need to pack up their bags and move because when it does, me and a lot of other people are going to be casting some blame on you.

Thanks for the great example of extremism. There's not much difference between the American Taliban and al Qaeda/Taliban (just a different religion) when you have people who make comments like this.
