We started out very strong and actually were ranked at #22 with a 19-9 record. Then our pitching starting getting injured and we went into a team slump hitting. From 19-9 to 27-32 to end year. So we were 8-23 over our last 31 games. Still we were 1 game away from playing for a SoCon championship.
We lose our best pitcher who graduates and 3 starters in the field. I have heard we are bringing in several JC pitchers so hopefully we will be better next year.
That is bad news. Transfers and JC's are what kills a good program. We take far too many of both. If we continue to take 4-8 transfers/JC's a year, we will fade even further into obscurity.
We recruited a JC that ended up leading our team in hitting, and another who is a weekend pitcher. There is a place for JC's in D1..but there has to be a mix of underclassmen who u can develop.
Dodds is decent, but I sincerely hope we aren't trumping up Stevenson, who may be the worst pitcher in the conference, and had no business starting all season.
