Sun Belt set a record for average attendance in 2012 at 19,766/gm.

I have not a clue why, but I'm sure we under reported for our tuesday night game.

Our stadium holds 32,000 and the other side was fairly full itself. This would say that 40% of the stadium was empty (and that isn't including the large contingent of fans sitting on the end hills that aren't figured into our capacity. I have a hard time imagining that attendance was correct.

I would bet the side in that picture is at least 40% empty. The top holds more than the bottom and It's 80% empty and there are gaps in the bottom and when you have gaps...people usually are spread out in the rest of the section.

I know for a fact there wasn't close to 16,000 at the WKU @Troy game and I would guess between 14-15,000 for the MUTS @WKU

so most schools over est their crowds.

Game time plays a big part in the numbers. The muts vs WKU game didn't start till 9pm and that hurt. The numbers improved at Troy from maybe 9,000 at the start of a 6pm (might have been 6:30) to maybe 12,000

The upper deck does hold more, but not by a large margin (less than 900 more seats), in fact, we are just bowling in one of he ends of the stadium, and planning to tear down our upper deck and have attendance increase from 32 to 35,000. And I guarantee for a fact the side I was on was not 40% empty, the students showed up in force for the ESPN contest. Now, they were gone by halftime because we were having a mudhole stomped into us. Again, add to that that a lot of people with general admin or upper deck seats (particularly families) tend to go sit on the grass hills at either end of the stadium and those areas aren't considered part of our max capacity, and 19,700 was a low ball park for this. I don't think we had a sellout, but I swore we broke 20k and probably had about 22-23,000 at the game

We had an underwhelming turnout for our opener on Thursday last year, but that was against a FCS opponent and coming off a 2-10 season. We had a little over 28k for a weekday game against Troy a few years back.

It's funny you say that, I was able to make it up to Denton to see UL play UNT this past season in football for that Tuesday night game. There's nothing weirder than getting smashed on an opposing teams campus while student go to class. Was a whole hell of a lot of fun though.

Didn't y'all lose to UNT?

Yea, it was a miserable loss. They ran the same play over and over and we never adjusted to it. The team early in that game was fine, but by the 4th quarter, UNT just played smash mouth football and wore us down. We then came back home and played another Tuesday game and got obliterated by stAte. As bad as it was, it turned out to be a turning point for us and the launching pad for Terrance Broadways progression towards the end of the season.

having been a defensive coordinator back in my day, I can tell you that some of the schemes that we set to secure the edge were unsound. So unsound that after the Ark. State game Hud threw the D.C completely under the bus and basically stated publically that he was taking over the defense and that he would "get this straightened out"....BTW, we have a new defensive coordinator. We could have still lost to ASU...they had a fine team last year. The loss to a putrid North Texas team was inexcusable.
