WR Nakai Poole who transferred in from Miss State in January has entered the portal. Say what you want, but I see it as former SEC WR couldn't find playtime in this WR room, makes more excited for this offense

Not super surprising, he didn't get on the field until late in the spring game, probably an indication he's buried on the depth chart.

So far, these feel like departures that are predicated on conversations with coaches on where they reside on the depth chart. Can't fault these guys for looking for PT elsewhere since they aren't going to get much here and many are mid-late in their college career.

Just like the NC State CB....coming from the P5 does not outweigh production. Give me an FCS player with proven results over a P5 with potential every time.

While I understand players leaving for the portal, I do take issue with guys declaring for the portal that haven't even been here for a semester.
If the sole reason is that he didn't get play time during a spring game, that's a load of crap.
The player took a chance on themselves just like every other player that declares for the portal. The chance he took didn't work out.
I take issue that any player that doesn't get exactly what they want can just leave any time they want without consequence.
He can take the chance on himself yet again I suppose.
This should be a huge red flag for any program to bring him in. He couldn't even stick it out for the spring.

Yeah but he has 4 years eligibility cause he was a class of 2023 who redshirted. Even so I am pretty confident in our WR room, Cam Ross, Taji Hudson, Dylan Williams, Omarion Dollison, Yamir Knight, and Maxwell Moss have all looked promising. Plus Taylor Thompson looks like a decent receiving TE and with a Vandy Transfer tight end Logan Kyle coming in the summer.

Yep and the Louisville OT transfer we got in the 2023 offseason, didn't really see the field last year and probably won't start this year either with Wyatt, McMurtie, and Ramil at the position. We've as had kids with FBS offers coming out of high school sign with us instead and never see the field, rankings can be crapshoot once you get past the 4 and 5 star guys sometimes.

Yep if he just stayed for 2024 on the sidelines, he would have a decent chance to start in 2025, since Cam Ross, Hudson, and Dollison would be out of eligibility. He is a class of 2023 recruit, so this will be his 3rd school in 3 semesters of college. Looking at the farrellportal tweet, he had a lot of Louisville fans and recruiters liking it, so I suspect thats where he is heading.

In the past, you would be right. But he knows that there will be a new haul of transfers to contend with every year at that position. I thought he looked really undersized and didn't seem to have much confidence. Seems like he should go the FCS route and get some experience.

I doubt we bring in as many transfers next season as we did this offseason, that happen mainly because of the coaching change. Also on the farrellportal post literally everyone liking it was a Louisville fan or recruiter so I assume he is going there. Though if he couldn't see the field here where our 3 best WRs from last year left, I doubt he will see it there early on

That Louisville transfer I was referring to (Aaron Gunn). Has just entered the portal. Two years eligibility, but I did not really see him getting a chance to play

Always a good sign when you have to ask yourself "who?" when hearing we're losing another player in the portal. Oh well, good luck young man, you're not the first to leave and won't be the last, those that stay will be champions!

I have to admit that I did have to ask myself "who" when I saw this.

P5 have finished spring ball and gone shopping. Hate this NIL world, but we'll just go do the same down the pecking order.

Nick Saban causally mentioned during the draft last night that they were tampering with the Toledo CB that got drafted in the 1st round trying to get him to enter the portal and transfer to Bama but he never would. Sounds like Ponds took that bait.

The writing was on the wall a couple of days ago, a bunch of transfer DBs started tweeting out JMU offers. Figured it was due to an impending Ponds or Logan transfer.

We all know where Ponds is going. NCAA either needs to do its job or just dissolve already.
