…figured we needed a thread in case folks didn’t know to click on the rocky Lombardi thread.
I think Shaw local did a great job with their article. Would have been curious about the how the OLine lined up too.

It looks like the first O-line is Evan Malcore, JJ Lippe, Z, John Champe and Evan Buss, left to right.

Veteran line. Good size, I like Z at center, May be the strongest unit on the team. Hoping they can play at speed against ND and NC State. A great Oline is great for RBs and QBs, it's a great setup when the big guys can play.

You aren’t kidding about the vet part. Little worried about next season because 4 of those 5 are gone?

One questionable season at a time. I dont have enough worry in me for 2 season's.

RE: Spring Practice
Saw an article from NS. Hammock doomed our QBs. He said the number one thing was to protect the football. That means, screens and shirt passes. Wants to rely on defense.

If he doesn’t open up the game, we are doomed for another season of close and low-scoring games. The opposition will again key in on the run and load the box.
Hey Coach, nothing ventured, nothing gained!!

Holy dirty bird cage. Please tell me this is not the revival of Ohio State/Woody Hayes/three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust without the Buckeyes talent. Even Oklahoma realized the triple option was no match for the forward pass. And remember when Nebraska was in the national title mix with its ground-pounding offense? I said WAS. And this is not 2012-13 and Jordan Lynch is a HS coach now.

If that is his scheme this year, expect the same season as last if not worse. Defense was good, but not that good to basically win the you the game and Ester graduated.
Plus side it shows he still has yet to change his mentality of college football and might be his last year here too then. Which I'm for if he doesn't get to 9-10 wins this season.

I’m not sure “don’t turn the ball over” is a hot take from a coach lol

I take the comment from TH that it is going to be more running the ball than last year and like Klake said, screens. Doing the dumb*** horizontal pass game again.

Same as last year with some different players. Hammock will put a short leash on the QBs, as is his style. Another boring, ineffective, frustrating offense. I sat at those games last year bored, frustrated, and pissed. Luckily, this year I can just turn the games off and enjoy a nice autumn day (except for when it rains).

RE: Spring Practice
Does anyone here think we have at QB? A Mahomes clone? Johnny Gunslinger? QB doesn't fumble the ball last year we win 2 more games. Michigan won the National Championship protecting the ball and run the #### out of it, did not throw a pass against Penn St in the 2nd half. Just holding onto the ball this fall at Qb we may have more production than in 23'.

Dont knock it…Mahomes threw over 30 passes of 5 yards or less in the Super Bowl.

Yeah, I love Rocky but he single handedly lost them games last year by simply dropping the ball while not getting hit. I’m not sure I understand anyone being concerned by hammock saying he wants the QB to take care of the ball.

Maybe I’m nuts…but I just feel like he’s laying the groundwork to not start hampton or give him the quick hook.
Never heard a coach say turnovers are great…wish our QB had more.

RE: Spring Practice
Hampton has shown a propensity to throw it to the other team. He had a chance to win the job last year when they benched Rocky and couldn't stop turning it over. I think coach is just referring to that. Hampton will probably start if he can protect the football.

With the expected quality run game/good O-line it's probably not a bad idea to pull the reigns in a little on an inexperienced pass game. Avoid holding penalties and Brown dancing in the backfield a little too much for negative yards, the Offense should be in very manageable third down situations. This won't work against ND or even NC state, but it should produce a lot of TOP and probably 26-28 pts a game vs the MAC.
