That being said, he knows the school/area and clearly can recruit.

Need ODU to get back to their usual hoops ways for the SBC to improve.

Brad Stevens (Butler) did so good he got a job in the NBA (Celtics).
Shaka Smart (VCU) did so good he got a job at U of Texas.
Jeff Capel III (VCU) did so good he got a job at U of Oklahoma.

Those are 3 very successful college coaches off the top of my head that didn't have any HC experience in college before they were made a HC in college.
Every successful (and unsuccessful) college HC was at some point a new college HC with no college HC experience.

Exactly. If you always wait for one with HC experience already, you're going to miss out on some good ones, plus all the ones with HC experience don't always work out either.

I think the initial poster was also meaning those that had D2 or D3 coaching experience as well so there is that too.

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket...ball-coach

The ESPN article says "19" losses...

Fake news?

EDIT: The Maryland website says "119" losses, which seems reasonable...

If he coached with Mike Young he's going to be good.
