Charlie played thru numerous injuries and shown lots of toughness
Has concussion and did not travel even
As I said, I’m not impugning his character….just wondering if he qualifies for a medical redshirt.
I don’t think he does.

According to the NCAA rules, a player can't play in over half the games to qualify for a medical redshirt. Charley has played in 22 out of 29, so he can't qualify!!
According to the NCAA rules, in order to be granted a medical redshirt, the athlete must:
Suffer an injury that is deemed “season-ending”
Their injury must occur before the halfway point of the season
Not participate in more than 30% of the season's games

I thought it was 50, but either way, he doesn't qualify!!

Thanks. It was the "Not participate in more than 30% of the season's games" part that I was wondering about. I wasn't aware of the "halfway point of the season" part. Also, I wish that I had checked this board first when I got to my computer because then I could have saved the time of looking up the numbers (which several other people did in the interim). So, yes, Charlie has played more than 30% of the games. He played the first 20 games, missed 3, returned for the Monmouth game on Feb. 8 (after the Hofstra game), and now has missed the last 5.
While I was looking up Williams, I also checked for Karasinski. He played the first 9 games and then has missed the 20 games since. Assuming he doesn't play in the last 3 games (assuming we play only 1 in the CAAT) then he will have played in 9 out of 32 (28%) and so Karasinski WILL be eligible for a medical redshirt if he wants it.

The box score for the Monmouth game on Feb. 8 shows that Charlie played in that game (after missing the previous 3 games). You are correct in that it is a total of 21 games played.
Thanks, all, for the info.

MBB Game #29 vs. Stony Brook
Awful showing, in every way. I watch, and will continue to watch, every game with hope that I see a glimmer of something to get excited about. At this point, I’m confident in saying the bandaid needs to be ripped off and let’s just see what happens. It can’t be any worse than what we’ve seen this season.

MBB Game #29 vs. Stony Brook
I couldn’t bear to watch, again. I stick by my earlier post not to make my annual contribution to MBB, if there isn’t a change by 4 months from today.
