Clearly not P4/5 worthy.

It's one season. Oregon State made the Elite 8 in 2021. What have they done since?

Oregon State was good in March alone that year and showed little before and after (speaking in terms of years, not just months). And on top of that it was a funky, unconventional pandemic plagued (no pun intended) and shortened season.

Admittedly, it's just one season but in Wazzu's (presumably) final opportunity, they've had a banner year and may win their P5 league. This is a league with a legit national title contender and a few good/decent teams. It shows they have the ability to compete in a P5 conference, perhaps not long term but in any given year.

Great game and a very fun atmosphere inside a sell out Wisdom Gym. Texans are already going places in just their 4th year at the D1 level.

Great win. That'll knock the pros at GCU down a notch

If Arizona is losing at home to Wazzu in a year where home teams are winning at a higher rate than they have in years, I really question whether they are a national title contender. Don't forget they also lost to Florida Atlantic in Las Vegas (a game that should have been a home game for them) and last year choked in the NCAA Tournament to Princeton). The Pathetic 12 this year is ... Pathetic. Outside of Arizona and WSU they may not even get another team in the NCAAT. If this Arizona team played in the Big 12 this year they'd be lucky to be .500.

UC Irvine pick up their 20th win of the season after defeating UC Santa Barbara 81-69 last night.

They improve to 13-2 in the Big West getting a read for a big match at 2nd place UC San Diego on the weekend.

Don't forget that Arizona beat Duke on their homecourt, beat Alabama by 13, beat Michigan State, and beat Wisconsin by 25. That is the reason they are No. 3 in Net Ranking. Arizona may not be a national title contender, just like the Big Ten teams have not been national title contenders the past few years despite high Net Rankings. Arizona lost at Stanford by 18 and they lost at Oregon State, the last place team in the Pac-12. They are either overrated or the Pac-12 is underrated.

Arizona is averaging 90 points per game and if you let their free-flowing offense get going they can run you out of the gym. Washington State under Kyle Smith plays good defense, and they control the pace of the game. They can grind out victories. Smith has done a good job finding talent through recruiting and the transfer portal.

You will get a chance to see Arizona in the Big 12 in the future and find out if they are a .500 team in the Big 12. It is tough to win in Tucson. Last night's loss to WSU was the first at home this season for UA and came in front of 14,688 rowdy fans. At the end of the game, there were objects being thrown at the WSU bench. They had to warn the fans to stop it, or UA would be hit with a technical foul. It was a great game that ended after 1:00 AM on the East Coast, so you guys on the east coast missed it.

My only issue with Houston. Is I feel like they challenge the refs to call a foul on every play. They know in Big12 play a ref isn’t going to call a foul every play. But in the tournament if they get a crew that takes them up on that challenge. They will lose.

I'm not as sold as others are, particularly in our own fanbase, but we look really good today.

I think for a team not used to playing them in the tourney- it's gonna be a shock seeing that physicality.

But our offense goes really long stretches without scoring, look at the start of this half. We're short down low (granted, with long wingspans) and struggle when Cryer and especially Shead is ineffective or off the floor.

Our defense is elite, that alone may get us to the Final Four but I don't see anything beyond it.

RE: College Basketball General Thread Week 16
Glad we won but we showed some signs of what I feared about the team in the second half. If Terrance Arceneau didn't go down for the season and/or Tramon Mark didn't transfer and accepted his role here as a role player and not a star (like he is while rotting away at a mediocre Arkansas), I'd feel safer about predicting a championship. Or at the very least, if Damien Dunn was a living, breathing player and not Casper the Friendly Ghost. Definitely needed a better transfer than him.

Minor complaints considering we're close to locking up a 1-seed and about to top the polls.

Vermont clinch their 8th straight America East regular season title after tonight's win over Bryant at Patrick Gym. All John Becker does in continue to win in Burlington.

This Catamounts team was constructed a little differently than in season's past with a number of important players this season like TJ Long (Fairfield), Shamir Bogues (Tarleton St) and Jace Roquemore (UC-San Diego) arriving via the portal to compliment some of their more experienced players in Matt Veretto and Aaron Deloney returning for their senior or grad student years.

8 straight conference titles. It’s amazing what Vermont does in a frigid, remote location with one of the worst gyms in the country (new arena was supposed to be built 2-3 years ago but construction paused due to funding).
