Have you guys seen that Wichita State has lost seven in a row, and they're now 0-5 in the AAC? Unfathomable, especially for a school with such a high basketball pedigree. We may have competition for worst team in the conference.

I saw that!

Did you see that, despite their slow start, the espn matchup predictor still has us with only a 1 in 5 chance of winning at Wichita in March?

(Ok, 19.5% but I rounded up)

I think Scott Thompson went to Wichita State from Rice to coach the MBB there?
It be interesting to note how long it will take for them to make a coaching change relative to Rice inaptitude.

Yeah I think he did. As for the coaching change, if this is the last year on Pera's contract, he won't be back. We should have a new hire to look forward to.

I know these are both 30 yrs ago (wow, sigh), but losing Thompson and Goldsmith were very depressing as they seemed to have turned the corner. That corner just seems to keep moving ahead of us (and don't tell me Bailiff). I suspect that a big part of their leaving is that they could see that corner moving and also being assisted by the then and forthcoming neglect.

Current guy--Paul Mills--is in his first year. He was video coordinator for Willis in 2002 before moving to Baylor. He started out 11-21 at Oral Roberts, improved to 30-5 in 2022-23, with a Sweet 16 appearance in 2021.

He peplaces a guy who was there 3 years, made the dance expanded field and bombed out first year, then two about .500 and fired. Sounds like Mills is changing their style of play, meaning an adaptation period.
