Tonight was a great example. They cut and screened and cut and screened and we never really got any help defense when that happened. They were 30 for 49 on, basically, all layups, 58 points in the paint.

My heart sank the first time I saw the Fischer style of offense. We won 21 games that year but I realized I just can't really enjoy watching that one-on-one approach. It takes away the beauty and artistry of the sport.

That and the whole Kaplan misfire have soured me on MBB to an extent I never thought possible.

BBL vs Campbell

Is there no one on the team besides Charlie who can play and pass out of the high post position so that our offense does not spend the entire shot clock passing the ball on the perimeter.

Spending what seems like the entire game watching Chase Lowe try to post up guards is just plain painful after awhile. Don’t get me wrong. Chase is a tough nosed kid who works harder than just about anyone on the team, but why in the world did we bring in Trey Moss to play the point when we have given the job to Lowe for no apparent reason.

For this offense to be anything but offensive, it would appear to me that our guards need to be able to penetrate the lane and be a threat to get to the rim AND score while also being a threat to beat you from the perimeter. Chase is neither.

The Campbell coach certainly scouted us well. Start off by picking us up full court whenever possible with a soft zone trap so that we have to take 8 seconds to get the ball into the half court, and then zone us for the remainder of the time to force us to make as many harmless perimeter passes as possible befor taking shots out of desperation. I clearly exaggerate here, but I am tired of watching this offense.

You are correct the coaching staff does not have an effective offensive scheme along with not having the right combination of players on the court enough.

Lowe earned the point guard position over Moss due to being the better option. Chas was the point guard on his HS team and went 49-0 his last two seasons with 2 championship. It is shame that he was never given the chance to play that position last year with our massive TO issues last year.

Lowe leads the team in assists and is an incredible rebounder. Our best offense is when Lowe and Williams are on the court. Moss is quicker but sometimes tends to dribble aimlessly and throw up 3 point shots too early in the shot clock. Lemond has struggled to adjust to College BB.

The players need better leadership from HC

Yerp. Works great when you have a future nba player and a 7 foot pro player on the court at the same time as a p5 level guard. I've noted the success Wright's Villanova had with it when they had 3 or 4 pro players on the court at the same time. When you're that much better than your opponents it's an ok system that can demoralize the opponent, but even highly skilled teams know that when you're outmatched (think '16 championship where UNC was the more skilled team) you've got to mix it up to win. Dane just keeps running the same dern thing like he's got the '19-'20 team (which didn't even work when Schrage recognized it and beat it with 5.5 healthy players!!!)

It's especially disheartening to see this attempted with a NET 300 team when our opponents are essentially running the same bleeping system that Tony ran that took us to new heights! Watching Campbell last night was watching a less skilled WM team of '14-'19. Princeton hybrid, backdoor cuts, and lazy zone on defense!

Anyone know why Caleb only played 7 minutes in the second half despite having just one foul? We’re really missing the paint presence of our absent forwards Collier and Karasinski.

Coach decision and Caleb was visibly upset about it
