Holy crap some of you are living in an altered state of reality. Sucks for South Alabama but let's get real here.

What if Bama takes a step back? It’s very possible. Passed by Ole Miss then that staff is fired. Was it a great move? Coaches have huge egos. Taking a step back isn’t in their wheelhouse of things they like to do. Maybe there’s something at South that bothered him. Surely he had reasons.

But will that trend continue under DeBoer or was that just a phenomenon with Nick Saban?

Who?

Almost happened a couple years ago. Blake Anderson was fully prepared to leave AState to take an OC job, but Utah State offered a head coach job last minute and he managed to use that route.

Where?

He won at Washington with a much harder recruiting path and less resources.

It's an older example but North Carolina offered Satterfield the OC/AHC job under Mack, but he went to Louisville to be the head coach instead.

That doesn’t mean his assistants will go straight from assistant to P5 head coaching position though.

Look at it this way; Kane has very little Power Conference experience. A short time as a GA at Old Piss when they were irrelevant and a couple of Covid years at Indiana who is always irrelevant is all. If he wants a real shot at a Power Conference job then he needs to show he can be a successful coordinator at the highest level. Add to that the fact that he is going to make about 2X what he was making at USA makes the move a no-brainer.

RE: Wommack to Bama as DC
do they offer Applewhite or go outside for someone else

I think at this point it is hard to not go with The Major

looking at the last 3 years even in their losses with the exception of Troy most of their other losses they scored at least a decent amount of points and a couple where the point total was not really high the points given up looks like there was a potential that the D was not getting the ball back to the O and the clock was used up

I suppose there is the potential that the O turned it over a lot and that left the D in a bad place and cost the O points, but overall they were scoring a lot of points in most games all 2 years

he has the two years at uH and sure he was "fired" there, but look what the high paid "bIg TiMe FOrMeR P5 cOaCh" was able to do after Major......he was able to drive the program through the ditch and into a sewage plant

some morons from uH try and blame all of that on the recruiting by Major, but he was only a head coach there for two years so his first recruiting class would have been the "behind the 8 ball" class plus Herman taking some recruits with him and then he got one other class (when the fans were hating on him the entire season)

also Herman was only there two years and Levine (that they fired after two 8 win seasons out of 3) was only there 3 years......so it is hard to have continuity with HC churn like that....and the reality is he still won there as a first time young HC taking over for a popular coach

I would imagine if they do not hire Major he will be looking to leave possibly even back to Alabama in some capacity in the O since he has an "in" and he has been there before and that I think would be bad for USA

Name one please. I can't recall any SBC head coach turning down a $1.2 million raise.
Billy Napier turned down a few P5 opportunities with even more substantial gains.

There’s a high probability it’ll be Major Applewhite.

Under Saban most likely. This is an unknown in the SEC.
