Let's talk Penn State
How can the ACC lure PSU when they are making $40m more in the BigTen? Offer them the same amount if they joined the ACC. I'm sure ESPN would be willing to pay more than pro-rata for PSU and the rest of the ACC will likely see a modest bump as well. SU and Pitt are more of a rival than anyone in the BigTen. PSU vs UM and FSU would also be a blockbuster.

Win a $2 billion Mega Millions ticket and offer it to them to switch, maybe. It's about as realistic.

The offer could happen if hubris did not prevent it. Would they accept? I think it would be very tempting.

Nobody is going to be lured from the B1G or the SEC to the ACC.

Not saying you are wrong, but PSU would fit better geographically and have a true rivalry with Pitt and games of intrigue with Miami, FSU and ND.

Geography as a "fit" in college football is now a joke. The SEC is the only one that even looks at it. The rest would invite the University of Sydney, Australia if it meant $$$

It would be less travel for PSU, likely a big perk. The BigTen expanded with 4 west coast schools and the ACC added just 2. PSU would have an easier time winning the conference, winning games in the ACC.

For the ACC, it would balance out football power between the North and South.

RE: Let's talk Penn State
The only time Penn State would have even contemplated a move was during the height of their child rape scandal when the Big Ten was considering booting them out and adding extra conference sanctions to them. Their cultish fan base was absolutely infuriated with the B10 at that time and, by all accounts, the ACC was actually reaching out through back door channels which was then undermined by Maryland.

There is zero, absolutely zero chance that they'd even take a phone call now.

Big Ten GOR? Exit fee?

Anyone who thinks that Penn State will join the ACC is dreaming.

It is more likely that Pitt would eventually be in the Big Ten

That ship sailed when they joined the Big 10. I'm surprised anybody would think it's even a possibility now.

Hate to be "that guy" but if I won a $2 BILLION dollar MegaPowerBall, I'd keep a few million for myself, then use the rest of it to become a poor man's T Boone Pickens for the University of Louisville. We may never get in a "P2", but with that kind of coin we can act like one, for a while.

Paco is correct on the timeline.

MD ratted out Nathan Hatch and WF to OSU and Michigan.

It's not fun being smothered by scUM and Ohio State.

All of those things apply to FSU as well, but you seem to be willing to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to the leave the ACC.

If Penn State wanted to play any of those teams the AD would just make a call and schedule a home and home. Penn State also has made heavy investments in hockey and wrestling and moving to the ACC would be no help there.

Hockey East is also a option. Pitt is a wrasslin school.

Lot of B10 teams in the wrestling rankings and PSU is number 1.

NC State is 8, VT 13, Pitt 15, Stanford 18, and UNC 27. Why would PSU need help with wrestling?

Penn State needs zero help as long as Cael Sanderson is coaching there. They could wrestle in the MAC and they'd still be #1 program by a wide margin.

RE: Let's talk Penn State
Well I doubt the ACC has any ability what so ever to pull Penn State out of the BigTen, but if they did it wouldn’t hurt them at all to go after Maryland and Rutgers as well to enhance Penn State with a much better Eastern Atlantic division.

Penn State, Syracuse, Rutgers, BC, Pitt, Maryland

Notre Dame, Louisville, VT, Virginia, Duke, UNC

FSU, Clemson, GT, NC State, Wake, Miami

This would be a conference that would be able to compete for TV dollars with the additions, and Notre Dame but not completely as a full member, but agreeing to play 7 game’s guaranteed with scheduling option of an 8th game if and when they need to fill out schedule. The ACC petitions the NCAA with others to move from a championship game to host semis and a championship. Taking the top 4 teams with highest two seeds hosting the semis with championship hosted in Jacksonville.

These moves would help TV dollars tremendously, and the travel would enhance many schools budgets to help with revenue more so than some would believe.
