My only wonder is how Miami loses *any* recruiting battle if they actually get the kids to visit the campus.

For whatever reason, they have not executed on maximizing the talent advantage that they have over everyone except for a very small handful of programs.

Yeah, I was fooled by their lack of results. Clicking through the 247 recruiting class ratings, they're putting up numbers there. Just not putting up top 10 seasons

All programs go through their periods of wilderness wandering.

Miami still has all its recipe ingredients on the shelf. They can put it all together at any time.

The ingredients for success go well beyond the "obvious". There needs to be more investigation into the current institutional culture as it relates to the leadership structure, the composition of the board of trustees, various support systems etc. I believe there are far more barriers of success at the "U" than meets the casual eye.

We seem to be having this conversation every year, at least for the past dozen years or so. The responses are basically the same as well.

I laughed my a$$ off at that Georgia Tech game like it was 1987.

Didn't y'all lose to Miami this year?

We really needed to get more ACC teams on the schedule as we were undefeated against them.

Congrats on beating Pitt. I hope the memory brings you years and years of comfort!

It does! Thank you!

Especially great comfort that I can say:

Satterfield > Pitt > Brohmville

Miami hasn't lost any luster. The reason why we all know about the Georgia Tech time management loss is because Miami is Nationally Relevant.

If everyone enjoys watching Miami lose... a little too much, its because their nationally relevant.

Miami's most embarrassing losses still grabs more national attention than most programs most significant win.

Top 25 Preseason Rankings will release next year with Miami in the 10-15 range again.

Or maybe it's just that not everybody can be elite at the same time?
Say there are 30 programs who believe they should ALWAYS be top ten programs, where you're not meeting expectations if you're not winning national championships, never mind not going to NY6 bowls.
That means 20 programs at any given time are wondering why they're not.
More than 20, because there's always a program or two having a top ten run and playing "over their heads" institutionally.

The preseason rankings are actually the perfect metric to show how Miami has lost its luster. They’ve only been ranked in the preseason 5 times in the last 17 seasons. And they’ve only managed to finish ranked in one of those seasons (2017 started 18th, finished 13th). Prior to that they were ranked in the preseason 20 times in 21 seasons. And they finished ranked in 19 of those 21 seasons.

Crockett and Tubbs meet MacArthur Park. When it was hot meet the recipe left out in the rain. But that said the only way Miami is left out of the P2 is if they choose not to invest at that level, and I don't see that happening.
