Here's the actual link which includes some interesting comments

Deshawn Pace says leaving UC football team wasn't his decision

Interesting Pace jumped on with local media to suggest that he was forced out like 5 minutes after announcing he was transferring.

Every guy who leaves either stinks or was told to leave. It's how we roll.

Don’t you think that negative rumors about players are just as legitimate as negative rumors about coaches that you don’t like?

I think rumors are just that.

Several key guys who were apparently not a problem under the last staff suddenly turning into Dennis Rodman just seems odd. And often a little convenient.

Actually you're right. They weren't a problem under the last staff... and that's why we always complained about an inordinate amount of late hit out of bounds penalties and various other "discipline" mistakes.

I guess we will need to get used to starting with a nearly complete new roster every season.

To be fair...many of the players entering the portal are guys who very rarely, if ever, saw snaps.

To date, we lost four starters, one of which was expected (Pace), two who may be addition by subtraction based on things coming out (Pace and Threats), one who was injured since week one (Anderson), and another person who split snaps (Metayer). It's not like there has been a ton of roster turnover in general.

I don't think it's uncommon for their to be a shift in players when a new coach comes in or during the first year or so. We saw the same thing with the BBall team which is a much smaller scale and a lot of us have probably seen the same in our own work places. Often times when a new manager starts people who have been there for a long time either take a while to adjust or eventually quit and leave for something else.

This is not a defense of Satterfield because I think he looks, speaks, and coaches like a turd. But some players leaving is expected and you see the same at every university across the land.

I don't think this many will be the norm. It's still part of the transition. I haven't bothered to look, but aren't most, if not all these guys Fickell guys? A good chunk of Fick's guys left last year. CSS gave the rest a shot and realized they aren't working for what he wants to build. Now you see another chunk of Fick's guys moving on. From here on out it should be mostly Satt's guys, so I would think the transfers would ease up a bit in future years.

I agree, but it to me just seems as though with NIL and transfer rules it's becoming more prevalent in the major college sports.

It's not a knock on UC or Satterfield(yet) but it's more about me not liking what is happening.

This is the new normal folks. Here’s last years list for schools with the most outgoing in the portal. I expect this year’s figures to be higher:

Colorado – 56
Ole Miss – 33
Texas A&M/Oregon – 31
Arizona State – 30
Arkansas – 29
Florida – 26
Louisville/Cal/Nebraska – 25
Arizona – 24
Miami/Florida State/Mississippi St/Cincinnati/Washington St – 23
Maryland/Missouri/Houston/Purdue – 22

I’ll be curious to see how NIL works with guys opting out halfway through the season.

Seems like a ripe opportunity for some attorney to develop a business 'helping' these college athletes negotiate their NIL deals.....

Some interesting veteran qb’s entering the portal. Grayson McCall, Riley Leonard, Will Rogers and EJ Warner. No idea who we might target; guess many others will be available. Our future might be Drogosh or Samaj Jones but would think we will attempt to bring in someone.

Riley Leonard is ND-bound and McCall is way richer than our blood unfortunately. We will have at least one QB from the portal though, I agree.

We will hire a journeyman again for next year and possibly the year after pending CSS getting his version of Cunningham at UL. Perhaps that guy a couple years out is Samaj. Perhaps not.

RE: Transfer Portal Names:
Is anyone expecting UC to secure "ready now" talent for Big 12 play as the portal opens?

I saw a headline last night that the James Madison QB who had 32 TD passes this season will become a three time transfer. Of course UC needs so much more than just a QB at this point.

RE: Transfer Portal Names:
I know this is just wishful thinking because I'm a Fairfield guy, but it would be cool if Jutahn McClain transferred to UC (he's in the portal). He's a speedster with breakaway speed who would compliment Kiner well. We'd have arguably the top Cincinnati HS RB's from 2019 and 2020 (outside of Miyan Williams). Although, I would think McClain would want to be a #1 somewhere to finish out his career.

Well, the portal officially opens today. It's like an early Christmas for all sports fans. Let's see what the staff can do.
