Pretending any of those conferences matter is this determination is a level of hubris you shouldn't have.

Of course they matter. And none of this is personal. This revolves around the access bowl. This only impacts the G5 conferences. And 3 of those conferences probably won't support JMU's efforts. The AAC and MWC have no interest in having to contend with JMU for the access bowl this season, and C-USA is probably still mad about the whole SB3 early departure and lawsuit. I can't see a scenario where the NCAA would help JMU or the Belt in this case.

This isn’t a democracy and none of those conferences have a vote in this matter.

Point I hadn't considered. That would gum up the works if filling an unfilled slot made them eligible because that wouldn't be known until all the games were done Saturday.

But there is still a week left and one more rankings after the final regular season Saturday.

The key problem is JMU needs to be a conference champion and the Sun Belt is not letting them play in the conference championship game without a waiver. We will know if JMU is bowl eligible on the final regular season Saturday. It wouldnt really delay anything on the Sun Belt's part waiting until the end of the last regular season Saturday to finalize their championship game because that is quite common.

Could the Sun Belt allow JMU to play in the CCG without a waiver? I have seen conflicting opinions on that. But they will most likely be bowl eligible by the end of the last regular season Saturday.

We are now being told by the CFP that no matter if JMU is bowl eligible due to lack of teams or not, they won't be ranked by the CFP unless they have a waiver.

So it isn't necessarily bowl eligibility, its the transition rule now that everyone is blaming.

No one ever envisioned a scenario where the 2nd year transition team would be undefeated and in contention to win their conference and claim the G5 bid. Again, JMU is likely to be bowl eligible by the end of the regular season, and therefore should eligible for the CCG and eligible to be ranked.

So everyone is passing the buck to the NCAA. The Sun Belt and the CFP are both now citing the NCAA transition rules as to why their hands are tied, stating that even if JMU is bowl eligible by end of regular season, they won't be eligible without this waiver. It may seem like a semantical difference, but JMU is able to point to the waiver as harming them from CCG and potentially CFP access as well as the spoils that come with that access.
Maybe they did and that's why they made the rules. Now, they aren't working anymore and that's why we are getting new ones.

While the other G5 conferences won't be voting, the NCAA isn't going to change agreed upon rules/policies that would negatively impact a few conferences so it can benefit another. The same would be true if the program in question was from any of the other G5 conferences too. It's just not going to happen. But, if the NCAA does decide JMU can be in the mix, I will come back to this thread and congratulate you.
