I live 45 mins from U of Delaware so hoping for some good rumors. 02-13-banana
Seriously, PA is a top five state for Liberty student recruiting and Delaware is mins away from SE PA/Philly area where a lot of LU alums reside.

They were one of the drivers of ASUN plan, so it would not surprise me.

Quality add. The Blue Hens would quickly adapt and help our league boost its football reputation.

Put your "sports hat" away for a moment... Think like a University President--THEY are the ones making these decisions.

CUSA presidents would all love having Delaware. It's really up to the Delaware folks and I believe it would have to be all sports since they would not be allowed to keep their other sports in their current league without football.

So if they join we would be at 11. We wouldn't stay at 11.

Would William & Mary be a consideration? Who else?

RE: DELAWARE---rumors; facts, figures
CUSA AD's, Media partners, and Delaware officials may be looking at the...

THE JMU EFFECT.

JMU currently #25 in the AP poll at 7-0 (also made the poll last yr.)

JMU has captured A LOT of national media attention with their rise on the FBS scene.

Could Delaware be another JMU?? Maybe. Even if they are close to that level--it would be a big success.

Delaware officials aren't blind--they can see the impact of nearby JMU and may want to emulate their SPLASH.

CUSA AD's and media partners can also see the potential.

THE JMU EFFECT.

I agree. Correction though. The CAA football conference is a SEPARATE charter/entity-- Two separate leagues. They could still stay in the "regular" CAA if they wished. Similar to the MVC and MVFC.

OF COURSE-- THIS ALL might be based on a false rumor. May have zero chance of happening.

NO verified sources yet.

Article this week from Delaware football beat writer.

“Delaware's lopsided win at Hampton in front of tiny crowd makes FBS move more appealing”

RE: DELAWARE---rumors; facts, figures
Just went to a Delaware messge board to read fan reactions on joining CUSA. It is lukewarm. Most all think it should be a football only move. To me, that is a non-starter. It’s all or nothing. Some want to hold out for MAC or Sunbelt. Others realize CUSA may be the only best offer. Others want to bring along several other CAA teams along with UMass and UConn. I’d be down with UMass probably if Delaware came. Zero chance Nova or UConn come. They aren’t giving up their spots in the Big East.

They would Not have to give up their spots in the Big East.

The Big East does not sponsor FBS FB--therefore, "theoretically" they COULD join as FB only members.

But UCONN already said "no" to CUSA as a FB only last year--reported in several publications.

Another example--UMASS-- "could" join any FBS conference as a FB only member and continue to stay in the A-10. But CUSA does not want UMASS--also reported by journalistic sources.

I meant because CUSA would only issue an all sports invite and not a football only.

All depends on which school. I believe CUSA wanted UConn football only but they didn't want us. Just the opposite for UMass. They wanted CUSA or any other conference but they were offering football only and no one wanted them football only.

Judy did state that CUSA would consider football only and now that Topstraight straightened me out, Delaware might be a good one for that.

RE: DELAWARE---rumors; facts, figures
MY opinion.

FB onlys CUSA would jump on!

--UCONN--but they already said NO

--ARMY-- said No to CUSA--yes to AAC for all sports

-- DELAWARE??---maybe... I just don't know.

-- NDSU/SDSU---- Possibly...

FB onlys where CUSA already has or will say "NO!!"

---UMASS--already said no to this terrible FB program

--- Missouri State-- FB program is "iffy"--would have to be all sports or nothing

With the new 5 million dollar fee to get into FBS, to me, there are only 3 possibilities to join CUSA: Tarleton State, Missouri State, and Delaware. I believe Tarleton State is a lock. I know some don't like that, but I have heard they are more FBS ready than almost any team has been. As for the 2nd team, I thought it would be Missouri State, but I think Delaware would be the better add.
