RE: OT Question about Pac 12 realignment
Kind of interesting--but very unlikely to happen.
Money differences, budgeting impossible with revenue changes each year.
AAC TV contract runs well into the 2030's.
Travel costs.
Getting a media member willing to go along with such an experimental plan.
CFP 2026 Media Deal will "lock" teams into that structure for 6-10 years. P4 will not modify anything to coincide with any G5 relegation plan.
Too many hurdles.
Too many moving parts IMHO.
Consider again in 2033.

RE: OT Question about Pac 12 realignment
The relegation model is an attempt to provide a rival to the NCAA power conferences.
It is interesting but does not really suit the schools that are going to get relegated. It suits Boise State really well which is why they came up with the idea.
It might be a way for the schools to get more money though if they decided to go through with it. Too many risks and boat rocking for university presidents who always put their own interests first.

Without enough $$ from media to support this plan--it will never get off the ground.
As usual--it ALL comes down to the money.
