I think AppSt might want to lose this game. Every team that has beaten ODU (VaTech, Wake, Marshall) lost their next 3 games. Lets have a good, safe game.

AppState football has an established pattern that must be broken for it to return to the top tier of the G5. FAFO must be replaced with excellent preparation and fast starts. This IS a better football team than last year, but they have yet to prove it. While I like the optimism from Clark on “Mountaineer Talk”, this really is the last window of opportunity to contend for the division and for post season…. The last 4 games are brutal. The next two weeks are must-win games for any chance at an improved record in 2023.

Hopeful that App can finally turn the corner starting tonight.

What’s his injury? Ankle sprain? I know he was sidelined most of the CCU game but didn’t get the sense it was real serious and has had week and a half to rest. I don’t necessarily want to have to defend against him but hate to see good players sidelined on principle. On the other hand we need the win so wouldn’t be too sad if he needs another week to recoup.

Someone took the time to create an algorithm-based ranking that ranked teams based on an “excitement index”. AppState ranked #1. We’ve seen it all this year: two walk off kicks, blocked field goals returned for TD’s, double overtime against top 25 teams. Pardon the App fans if we all are wishing for good old fashioned comfortable win.

You have to weigh what it would cost to pay his buyout against what would be lost in donor $$s if it is. Money talks and as it stands right now, the money to keep him is far greater than the money to let him go.

Saint, I was very clear about having opinions, but you know very well that what is said on this or any other message board has zero bearing on whether Clark is fired. Regardless of what anyone else thinks no amount of noise made by people on these boards has any influence in the decision making process. Even those with a radio show.

Besides, the original statement was "If Clark comes back to Boone with an L, I'm not sure he survives". So you think App would actually fire Shawn in the middle of a season when a winning record is still possible? I'm not convinced he's gone even if we finish 6-6. Why? Our program scrambles to keep up and we're going to spend well over a million $'s on a buyout? Remember it's just not Clark's salary we're buying out. Ponce & Sloan were guaranteed two years, so we're on the hook for those guys as well.

You know I'm pretty well connected and at this point I'm convinced the people that actually matter are not nearly as up in arms as the social media warriors.

The belief that the administration does not pay attention to the pulse of the fan base is false.

The belief that fans who don’t have a lot of money should just quiet down because they can’t affect anything is also false. It’s also arrogant.

ADs have many many things to pay attention to. Donations, attendance, wins, social media, recruiting, all of it matters. The blind loyalty supporters haven’t hit their breaking point yet. Hopefully (for all our sake) things turn around and they won’t have to.
