2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
The Tribe is picked to finish 9th in the CAA. That should give them motivation.

I get it, we graduated our top 3 scorers but if I'm Coach E I'm printing up a massive #9 and hanging it at the exit to the locker room.

They have some transfers who will make a big impact. Hopefully Dani McTeer is back and healthy. I think we will be in the top half of the league without any question.

2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
Coach E showed us a lot of positives her first year. Her coaching style is dynamic and I feel that our WBB will either have a top 5 finish or make as a minimum the CAA semi finals.

Coach E has scheduled a good out of conference schedule that will pay dividends in CAA play

I would bet a million dollars that the women finish the season higher than the men. 9th place is a joke.

Hate the all black uniforms but otherwise we're looking solid against NSU tonight

RE: 2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
We WERE looking good, then a 15-0 run puts the game back to competitive. Coach E went with a team of youngsters, (5 new faces at one time), after the fast start, and they couldn't handle the full court pressure.
Need to get the rhythm back for the start of the 2nd Half.

Tribe still not handling the increased pressure defense from NSU. Went almost 5 minutes before scoring in the 2nd Half. Trailing by 1.

Continuing to have problems with NSU's tight man to man D. Now down by 10, early in the 4th.

W&M turned up the D. Got a 7-0 run and it's a 4 point game with 3 minutes to go.

Nice comeback to get a chance to win at the end, but lose by 2. Big night for Tribe Grad Transfer Nyla Young (Hampton), with 29 points and soph. Kayla Rolph, with double digit rebounds.

During the football broadcast I heard that buying one ticket would get you into both the men’s and women’s games. Maybe that’s the number of total tickets sold even though some folks might have gone to just the men’s game.

RE: 2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
Norfolk State had an arduous road trip; first W&M on Monday then at Drexel on Wednesday. They lost to the Dragons by only 2 (51-49). Going 1-1 against the CAA (both on the road) is a good start; they were an NCAA team last year.

They beat us, so they went 2-0 against the CAA on the road to open their season

Stupid CAA website! Even now it shows Drexel winning by 51-49.

They were too busy contacting ESPN to get them to change colonial to coastal in their drop down menus, they didnt have resources available to make sure their own website was correct for scores

RE: 2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
Women lost on Friday to VCU 70-54. Nylah Young (grad transfer from Hampton) has been a bright spot with 29 points against Norfolk State and 26 against VCU. Bella Nascimento (transfer from Manhattan) has played well and scored 10 and 11 points. On the down side, the team really misses 3-point sharpshooters Sydney Wagner and Riley Casey. Against NSU, the team shot 5-28 from distance (18%) and against the Rams we shot 1-15 (7%). Those numbers are going to have to greatly improve if the team wants to be top tier. Meanwhile, Dani McTeer has barely played so she must not be fully recovered from last year's injury yet. Several stalwarts from last year (Rebekah Frisby-Smith and Alexa Mikeska) have gotten off to very slow starts so far. Next game is against George Mason on Sunday. Don't want to start the season 0-3 especially since the first three games are all at home!

Oh well, we start 0-3 at home. Lost to George Mason by 77-72. Had a chance at a tying 3-pointer at the end…which missed…we got the rebound…they stole it….we fouled….they sank 2 free throws with no time on the clock. The difference in the game was Nylah Young sitting out most of the 4th quarter with 4 fouls. She should have come back in sooner.

Rebekah Frisby-Smith was the heart and sparkplug of last year’s team…this year she seems like an afterthought.
