Tribe wins it’s first game of the year, beating Tennessee State 63-53 in the first game of the FIU holiday classic. Kayla Rolph got her career high in points (either 14 or 15).

2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
Woooooooo! Just won the FIU Thanksgiving Classic with a 59-57 win over the hosts! A good time to pick up our first two wins of the year lol. And always great to take a trophy back to Williamsburg.

Tribe win the FIU tournament 59-57 over FIU. Made it interesting with 3 Tribe turnovers in the last 10 seconds. Now 2-4 on the year.

Real barn burner going on now with ODU. Tied at 64 with 1:36 to play. ODU getting tons of offensive rebounds in the 4th period but the Tribe hanging tough....

Tribe 0-6 on three pointers in the 4th, 2-15 for the game. Where are Riley Casey and Sydney Wagner when we need them?

RE: 2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
Final score ODU 72-66. Tribe finished 0-8 on three pointers just in the 4th period, 2-17 for the game. Great effort, though, and good preparation for CAA play.

......need to practice 3-pt shooting.....Rebekah Frisby-Smith was pretty decent at that last year but appears to have lost all confidence this year....hopefully she gets it back by CAA play.

RE: 2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
Tribe lose at JMU 75-56. Tribe led by 1 at halftime despite not scoring in the last 5 minutes of the half. JMU had a ton of turnovers in the first half but thoroughly cleaned that up in the second half. Plus, the Dukes have a 6'4" girl who normally averages 9 points but got 20 today.

I'm so sick of losing to JMU. I think I hate them now more that UVa or Tech (but still not as much as those sleazeballs at UNCheat).

Maine hosts JMU a week from Sunday...we'll try to avenge your loss.

Tribe dominate Longwood today 86-49. We totally controlled the 3rd period 27-5 including ending the period on a 23-0 run. Before anyone scoffs and says "only Longwood" be advised that the Lancers owned a 38-21 lifetime advantage over W&M and it has been basically even for the last couple decades.

RE: 2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
Our best player, Nylah Young, barely played because of a stomach bug. Sure would be nice if a W&M team was full strength when playing a superior opponent. Lost 76-43 although, as said above, only down by 3 at halftime.

I’m relieved that it was just a stomach bug. I saw her minutes and was afraid she got hurt early on.

RE: 2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
Exciting game, great win! Anahi-Lee Cauley started and had a great game. Nylah Young didn’t have her usual high-scoring game but she did connect on a 70-foot inbounds pass and layup to bump the Tribe lead from 2 to 4 with just 6 seconds left. The inbounds play barely made it in in less than 5 seconds.

On to Hofstra. Let’s start the CAA slate with two road wins!

RE: 2023-24 Women's Basketball Season
Interesting anomaly in this game: while shooting 12-21 on free throws Monmouth had 9 instances where they made only 1 out of 2. They had only 1 instance where they made 2 out of 2 and 1 time where they went 1-1. There were no times where they made none. Of the 9 times they went 1-2, 7 of those times they missed the first free throw. Most of these were in the second half and it was weird enough to get my attention and to actually expect them to miss the first shot. (In fact, if Monmouth had shot free throws better they would have won the game).

Held Monmouth scoreless for the last 4 minutes plus to close the game out too. Great win.
