If we're ranked and the school hypes it up, they'll be there. Will they leave at halftime? Absolutely.

BTW the thread title says 10/27 but it's 10/28

Student section is sold out. with good weather we'll have 27,500 in the stands, and all feeling " pretty good" could be App state or better type of environment.

This would be a great game to have prizes for students wearing costumes and giveaways (like they have done in the past) to keep students in the stands. Have a few best, most creative, etc costume prizes and partial tuitions, free meal plans, etc given out each Qtr.

I have season tickets but this will be the only home game that we make it to so very excited for it. Will also be going up to Atlanta for the GA State game the following weekend.

Will see you at the GASt game. Wife and I are heading to Orlando after the ODU game and are stopping for the GASt game on the way home!!

Not a fan of the 8:00 PM start as it kinda messed up our travel plans a bit but whatever. Managed to snag a room at the Tru at exit 243 so that is good at least. Cost a small fortune though. Usually make hotel reservations as soon as the schedule came out but did not for this one as we were planning on starting our trip south after the game and where we stayed would depend on what time the game started. I was thinking we would get a 2:00 or 3:30 PM start so that would have given us a bit of travel time south. Well the 8:00PM started scuttled that!!

Will be there ROOTIN!!

Go Dukes!!

I might be one of the few that would least want a 3:30 game time. For a 3:30 game you miss all of the early games and most of the evening games.

If the game is at noon or 8:00 PM I get to see a lot of the other games on TV.

Good point as I am the same way with following other games. The 3:30 games to me over the years have had the most butts in the seats and the most people watching on TV. With that being said, I have been very impressed with the student turnout for the noon games recently and getting there before kickoff. Hats off to them.

I was also very impressed with the overall turnout on Saturday given everyone was so worried and complaining about the forecast of rain.

Will be interesting with Thanksgiving break and the students off, how many will stick around for the App State game. That may actually be better for an early game.

Excellent! I am flying up to Atlanta from S. Florida on Friday and staying with my daughter, son-in-law and new grandson. (they live in Chamblee) My college roommate who lives in Atlanta along with some of his friends and my coaching friends from when I used to live there will be coming. Probably a contingency of 10-12. Will try and let you know where we will be tailgating.

Had to figure we'd get at least one night game before the season was out and I believe the last time we played Old Dirty at BFS it was a night game and also Jeff Durden's last game as our OC.

Mickey got fired the next season.

Really think that the huge amount of media coverage we've been getting is only helping with getting students to the game. When we are all over every sports website/show the kids are going to get even more pumped to be apart of JMU

Props to the student section for this weekend's game. I think that's the most full for the longest period of time that I can remember.
The gameday atmosphere in the stadium is getting better as well which I'm sure is helping keep the students there.
It's going to be crazy at gametime.
Our fan base needs to continue to step up. This team is worthy of a packed stadium week in and week out from kickoff to the final cannon. Last weekend was an absolute step in the right direction, but we can still kick it up a notch.

I’m not sure where to post this, but I hate making new threads due to clutter. I heard last week that Colorado’s out of state applications increased by 40% Year-Over-Year. Do we have access to any data regarding our application growth the last two years? In the end, we love our football, but we love our University more. With football success should come academic improvements, one would hope.

68% increase over the last two year period. But that also coincides with JMU accepting common application.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I applied in 2004 and the Common App was utilized by nearly every school I applied to (22 believe it or not!), and I distinctly remember JMU having their own application. I’m not sure why it took us another 20 years but I’m happy we have it. It’s kind of like the Linked-In “Easy Apply” in a way. More applications to get through but they have abundant technology services that filter out the winners from the losers.

Noon has been growing on me this year. Allows the evening for other activities, and I think the students stick around a bit longer for that reason also. Plus as mentioned tailgates can continue some after the game.
