RE: UNC's loyalty to the ACC?
Here is the problem with what is going against Clemson now.

1.They are based in a small city, and small tv market.

2.They have dropped off on winning, and have not won the the ACC championship in several years.

3.They could wind up facing being like Oregon State and Washington State themselves and like California and Stanford.

4.There could be no lucky ticket to get into the SEC and the Big 10.

Clemson is taken a mighty risk of becoming homeless if they pursue to leave the ACC.

RE: UNC's loyalty to the ACC?
My guess is UNC wants to remain in the ACC as long as it’s financially viable. It’s almost analogous with Notre Dame wanting to remain an independent. The question is how much of a financial haircut are they willing to take?

As to the question of which confernce they would want to join, I’m leaning towards the SEC. While I don’t think the SEC place an emphasis on academics in the expansion mattered, they last four adds to the SEC have significantly improved the academics of the conference. Further the SEC would probably be willing to invite Duke to get UNC. A confernce that includes Duke UNC Vanderbilt Florida and Texas will be more than enough to make the academically inclined decision makers[/align] happy with the SEC.
