Like the Pac TV deal, the date keeps changing. Now I think they are waiting until the court case November 14th.
Their coaches have to be nervous. The uncertainty has got to be killing recruiting.
You'd think so, but both of the teams are playing their best football in a while. Those coaches are certainly earning a raise, though whether that's possible at their current locations is debatable.

Not without a media deal they won't. I'm starting to think Kliavkoff burnt all the bridges and nobody's returning calls. If so they can either join the MWC for no money just to have a schedule, or play each other repeatedly in each sport every week as indy.

Kliavkoff should be dropped by the two as soon as they can. Bring in the MW, commish and all, just branded under the PAC contract. The MW tv deal can come with them, but get the PAC basketball credits and all the PAC money given to them by the departing teams. They are paying right??? Or have they all snaked their way out of it?

Just as important, the Pac-12 still has 2 years of CFP money coming.

“Lease”. That’s a good term. And I think it’s going to be used more and more, while tv contracts get shorter and shorter. I can’t see an actual promotion/relegation system working. But can see something like it in slower motion with caviats and exceptions happening.
So if BigXII “lease” 6 western teams for easing conference travel purposes, and to make the current 16 maybe $1 or 2 million per year each on top of the smaller conference travel budget.
Currently 5 western time zone teams in BigXII. Add 6 more so there’s 11 west and 11 east. These 6 would be temporary with possibility of permanent. A “lease” until waiting to see what happens with ACC.

That's a really big assumption that is more likely not going to happen. As Sankey said, we are not the NCAA.

You're like a broken record. They might join the MWC, but they're not playing each other every week if they're forced to go independent for a while.

The only thing we have to go on is that unanimity is required to change the CFP contract before 2026. Is Nevarez going to vote to neuter Pac credits when they could end up being HER credits? Is the 2Pac going to get kicked out of the CFP completely? Is there even a way to do that? Hancock's latest statements lead me to believe that the 2Pac will be a full member conference until 2026 unless something can be worked out before then, but nothing can be worked out until it's determined who exactly is in charge of the Pac.
I think that the following is what will happen from the CFP's POV:
Who wins the court case on Nov 14?
- If departing members win, then they dissolve conference on Aug 1, 2024. There is no Conference, so there is no issue.
- If WOSU win, they invite some or all of the MWC and top of AAC for 2024 and get back to being a member in good standing with the CFP. It would then be cheaper for the CFP Committee to work out a deal with WOSU to allow them to continue to receive the P5 share of CFP money in the next contract in exchange for dropping the rest of the Pac (other than WOSU) down to the g5 payouts for the next 2 years and then again starting in 2026. Unfortunately, this would also require unanimity to change before 2026, and it's not impossible that Aresco, Nevarez, or someone else would just decide to block it out of spite for getting the scraps for so long. This would be a fascinating thing to watch in real time, and I'll admit that I'm hoping to see it just b/c I wanna see how it all shakes out.

lol, *I'm* the broken record? Look at all the people that still insist 2PAC are going to be swimming in cash. The PAC's total incompetence in the last year means they don't get the benefit of the doubt on anything.

Its impossible to get a media deal when there is no clarity on the members in the new PAC/MW. None of the media partners will engage in serious negotiations when then they dont have a concrete list of members. Are they merging with the MW? Taking some from the AAC?

East? Ehh that's a stretch.
