McClain made some really bad decisions towards the end. That’s why he’s the backup. Great arm but costly mistake.

We were in this for 3 quarters. This was winnable.

K-State played great. Good Bounce back win. Great Crowd. Happy Will Howard was healthy.

I feel good about tonight. Our first Big XII game on the road against the conference champ with our backup QB. We were in this game and looked like we belonged. That’s huge…

We gave them a drive with those penalties, and we gave away a drive with our inexperienced QB making an inexperienced decision.

But besides that, we hung with this team. We obviously have room to grow, but we aren’t as far away I was concerned we might be…

KState is a very good team and Manhattan is a tough road trip. UCF definitely had a respectable showing. KState tends to make very few mistakes so mistakes here and there always seem to be amplified when playing the Wildcats.

There was a lot of emphasis by Malzahn and staff in the offseason on learning how to win close games because they figured there would be A LOT of them in Big XII play. For three quarters, we played well enough to win, but then penalties started to happen. Trying to beat K-State was hard enough without making errors, but the self-inflicted wounds made it easier for the Wildcats to put the score out of reach.

On a different note, wow, what a job by D.J. Giddens and Will Howard picking up a combined 271 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. Very impressive. Howard also did a great job of spreading out the ball to a lot of different receivers; however, our defense did not give up any passing TDs, which I'd call a win for us in that one area. Still, K-State's offense did a heck of a job.

Speaking of offense, though, I have to again say wow, UCF's offense had some big plays in this game. Kobe Hudson's 69-yard and 46-yard TD catches. R.J. Harvey's 29-yard TD catch. The long drives we had in this game were very encouraging to see.

Next up: Back at home for a rematch with the Baylor Bears!
