• Bill Snyder Stadium
• Line: Kansas State -7.5 Over/Under: 57
Quick Hits:
- UCF is without starting QB JRP, backup QB Timmy McClain will lead UCF
- Kansas State looking for a Bounce Back after emotional loss to Mizzou
- UCF is undefeated against a weak nonconference schedule, leads the nation in total offense but these stats are inflated by their relatively weak strength of schedule so far
- Neither team is ranked but Kansas State is receiving votes in AP (54) and Coaches (114). UCF is barely receiving votes in the Coaches (5). Unsure if a win would send either team into the Top25

This game feels so huge to me. This is a unique opportunity to make a statement right away that we're here to win the conference. Looking forward to this Saturday!

Beating Kansas State on the road with a backup QB would be a huge statement game.
Timmy has a bit of a bigger arm than JRP.
- Timmy has a career long ball of 80 yards (against 2021 #5 Cincy)
- JRPs career long is 68 yards (against Temple)

Kansas State is coming off a tough loss to Mizzou. They will be ready for this matchup for sure. It is very hard to win in their stadium, one of the toughest in the Big XII.

That’s what was said about playing on the blue turf of Boise State too.

I agree, Boise State was pretty loud. Forced a couple presnap penalties. Gus Malzahn addressed it in his press conference. Think it was a good warm up for Kansas State.
Mizzou's Eli Drinkwitz is from the Gus Malzahn coaching tree. If Kansas State struggled with Mizzou, they will struggle with UCF. I'm sure they had a long conversation on Sunday about Kansas State.
UCF in its inaugural Big 12 game is beyond motivated to win this game on the road.
K-State's QB Will Howard was noticeably limping in the last game.

I don't think anyone here disagrees that it will be a very difficult environment for UCF to play in this Saturday. Two things can be true at the same time, though: Kansas State's home field can be very difficult to play at AND the visiting team can be prepared for it and overcome the challenges. As a Texas fan, I'm sure you know the Longhorns stepped into a difficult place in Tuscaloosa against a very good team, yet you guys won. Trust me when I say that UCF has the ability to beat Kansas State even with our backup QB, but we do understand how difficult this game will be and we'll need to eliminate some of the little errors we made in the first three games to win.

I think UCF would have a better chance of winning this game if Kansas St won last week. They are going to be playing with their backs up against the wall, and like someone said, that stadium is tough to play in. Excited to watch it that evening after the TCU game.
RE: ***Official UCF at Kansas State Game Thread***
Chris Klieman Press Conference - Defensive Captain LB Daniel Green is out for the season
- QB Will Howard is questionable, day by day
- Says UCF is not your typical Big 12 offense, wants to run, "lightning fast", and lot of snaps
- Key for K-State success is being able to get the UCF offense off the field, need to have a great red-zone defense, control time of possession
- UCF has a lot of gadget and trick plays, will probably have some new ones
- Number 1 goal against a high powered offense is to control the clock and keep their offense off the field
- K-State will simplify the offense to improve rushing and help backup QB
- Acknowledges Gus Malzahn as a great teacher and QB developer and says he expects QB Timmy McClain to be ready to fully utilize the Malzahn offense. Doesn't care if he's experienced or inexperienced, if you're playing for Gus you're pretty good.

To add to the above injury details, K-State running back Treshaun Ward is "doubtful" for the game this Saturday, according to a story from The Wichita Eagle. The injuries to Ward, Howard, and Green all happened in the Missouri game. Not sure what impact this will all have this weekend, but it sounds like the K-State depth chart has gotten a bit thinner.

I saw their backup play against Mizzou quite a bit. He’s a dual threat true freshman, a former blue chip 4 star recruit. They used him as a running QB against Mizzou, I’d imagine they’d use him in a similar fashion against us. If Howard is hurt and he’s the full time starter, I’d expect a lot more QB draws and emphasis on running the ball. Not sure how good he is at throwing it.

The playbook for K-State would be simplified for a true freshman QB, I would imagine. That doesn't mean he won't be a threat for our defense, though. These are the defending conference champions. We've got to be at our absolute best in this game no matter who's behind center.
So there you go, for whatever these picks are worth!
Surprised a lot of experts are picking UCF but the Vegas odds are still Kansas State.
The Vegas Line has been moving this week. Started at -7.5 K-State and today its -3.5 K-State
Should be a close one.
From what I've seen, I think K-State is a better team than Boise State. We had some missed opportunities to have a larger margin of victory against Boise, yet we won. If we have those same missed opportunities against K-State, I don't think we will win.
