Hugs took a $1m pay cut after his gaffe a couple of months ago. He went 4.5 to 3.5. If money and a bigger job can pull AK, he's likely gone. I think he really wants to be here and the program has a lot of momentum. Parlay it into a raise and let's kick ass in the AAC.

I’ll say if you recruit 8-9 new players from across the country to come here and you dip on them midsummer, we’ve gotta start reeling in the line on who’s allowed to use #EFEL. All we’ve got is the 200-300 of us, we see at every event to depend on.

The job is always left unfinished. Whether it be Anderson, Haase, Clark. Surely, AK won’t do the same.

I really don't think Andy Kennedy is wired that way. He came back to UAB with a purpose, and that train is rolling.

That said, the PGA throwing their legs in the air for the Saudis reminded me that enough money can really change things.

I assume if they interviewed AK so quickly, he was probably someone Huggybear recommended for the job. As Huggy and AK are very good friends, you have to figure he wouldnt have recommended him if he didnt know Andy was interested in taking the job.

I can’t blame AK for making hay as the sun shines. WV’s game attendance is an added attraction.

My apologies. By attendance I was referring to the University not Basketball. I remember not too long ago reading about how the University is falling off. Haven’t heard anything since but Basketball will always be a strong point for WVU so that attendance doesn’t shock me. I do think regardless of who they hire though it’s bound to decline. Their fans on message boards are already crapping on every possible hire outside of somehow luring Jay Wright back into coaching

We have everything we need to keep him. It would be nice if we could have descent attendance and a robust NIL program run by professionals but I digress. Instead we will complain about who we play and be skeptical of contributing to the NIL.

It would be our luck too! Great recruiting class. Fan interest high. New conference, everything rolling and then bam.

With all that is said I will be surprised if they select him based on the relationship with BH and history. If we see AK actively interviewing for more openings besides WVU my warm and fuzzies will get up and leave the room. The Bartow standard talk will be hollow at that point money be damned.

Think one of the old heads said it a few years ago. Paraphrasing “If it was easy being a fan of the blazers, there’d be a lot more of us”.

The possibility of both of the top sports getting a knife in the back before our long awaited move just sucks. Even worse, the best players on our baseball team are getting plucked away via the portal by AU. What should be a celebratory time is filled with so many questions up in the air.

Was poised to be going into this league a year ago.

Im outside the Birmingham loop here in good ole peach country. But it just sucks anytime the top sports get any momentum we whave to deal with this. But thats how it goes

it don't help when a handful of posters drum up on the rhetoric either...

I wouldn’t think AK would leave. For reasons I said before but also it’s just the wrong time. WVU needs to promote the assistant for 1 year and keep their team. I ready where the rumor is up to 8 players may hit the portal next week if they don’t like the hire. Also they are almost entirely a 1 and done roster right now. AK exclusively loaded up on multi year guys this off-season. If we give him a good enough raise he has no reason to leave. I have seen the rumor mill move to Dusty May who I’d be mad if he left at this point.

Dusty moving up is only a matter of time and the right job offer. If Indiana offered him he'd break the sound barrier getting there.

The most sensible post in this thread. NO chance whatsoever he goes to West Virginia.

I know this is June, and we don't have anything else to talk about--and I guess it is better than talking about the Legion or the Stallions, on a UAB message board.

How about someone post a guestimated depth chart for football, or updates on who is impressing from summer workouts in football or basketball, maybe something about what goes on on the field or court?

He interviewed for the job, nobody is denying that, right?

I don't believe he's leaving UAB in a bind at this point for the WVU job, but I can see why people question it. If he left now, he'd burn every good thing he's ever done for UAB to the ground.

No one is denying he is doing what is needed to get a raise at UAB
