Yes, it was a pretty good game. Rice held possession most of the evening but the Kats made good on the few opportunities they had. That’s the first time Sam Houston State has seen a result against the Owls, and the first time Rice has played in Huntsville (were 0-6 against Rice previously). Best of luck to the Owls the rest of the way as they begin their first AAC campaign.

SHSU won their final non-conference match today against Incarnate Word, shutting out the Cards 1-0.

Things get real a week from today: SHSU at JSU in Jacksonville next Sunday at 1 PM.

Liberty defeats App. State 2-0. Flames are 8-0 with four top 25 votes, even though not in top 25.

Soccer beats Liberty 2-0. Liberty was 11-0 entering the match and had only allowed 3 goals all season. They were also the last remaining unbeaten team in the nation. Coach Baarts said, before the game, that Liberty didn’t have as tough an OOC as NMSU. Said NMSU was battle tested. Looks like he was right.

No one acknowledges NMSU going undefeated and winning the regular season soccer title in their first season. We have threads to thank MTSU on cross country titles. We have basketball threads touting the recent NCAA accomplishments of CUSA but NMSU is not mentioned. Folks talk about the impressive combined records of 2 CUSA newcomers in FB but leave off the Aggies. People are even pointing out how bad it is that a team that lost to UMASS could possible play in the CUSA CCG. Apparently posters aren't too impressed with NMSU athletics.

Everyone’s still too embarrassed about losing to our ladies. Better get used to it. 05-stirthepot

I am disappointed Liberty fell to 2nd and almost 3rd in women's soccer standings. Congrats to New Mexico State on winning. I'm hoping Liberty can avenge losses to both NMSU and WKU in the tournament, starting in a few days.

Aggies with the following accolades:

Coach of the Year: Coach Baarts
Offensive POY and POY: Loma McNeese
Defensive POY: Xitlaly Hernandez
Several players on the first team, second team and freshman team

What a year. Considering they lost one of their best players when she passed away suddenly this summer, it is quite the accomplishment.

Been a great addition--as expected by my opinion.

AND... on a limited budget with travel challenges and no support from Santa Fe.

No excuse for the rest of us not to excel.

Sam knocks off Florida International in a 3-2 thriller to advance in Ruston! Great defensive play from the LadyKats in the second half as they secure their first CUSA tourney win!

SHSU will be the Aggies’ first challenger in the tournament. They tied 0-0 in the regular season.

Western about to kick against host LaTech in second game of the day…
