The first decade and a half in C-USA, we went into every conference game believing we were gonna win, which we usually did. (Suffice to say, Tulane, SMU, Memphis, ECU expected to lose)
When Fedora left for so-called greener pastures, uSm made perhaps the worst choice for Head Coach in the history of college football. The stench and rot from that mistake still resonates today.
Not only did we lose a whole football season, we lost our mojo, our swagger, thousands of fans and our recruiting stature for years. When Monkee slowly but surely was regaining some momentum, Monk left and uSm went for the cheap and hired our 2nd big mistake. What happened was "second verse same as the first".
So, we can only blame ourselves for our decade decline.
Not sure about Hall yet, but right now it looks like Wommack woulda been the better choice (and I hope to hades Hall proves this old man wrong wrong wrong)
