I'm still waiting for the day Marshall uses Kelly green on the football field. Seems like a no brainer but we've yet to see it.

Hopefully they check out the drainage and we don't have a repeat of the Louisville game from 2011.

They completely reworked the drainage in 2013 when the current turf was installed.

Yea but you still need to check that stuff out periodically... It's good maintenance practices.

Those rubber pellets get washed away quite a bit.

I have wondered if you put too many of those pellets on a field your players start running like they are on flubber?

There's over 200,000 pounds of pellets in your average football turf field nowadays. You're essentially running on them as the actual turf is very light weight.

Nice. I still like your old branding, but I understand you've got to satisfy the alumni base. It's a clean look. I do like the alternating shades of green.

We've got way too much "old branding" to know which one you are referring to.

I liked the prior logo. Why they change? I saw it is similar to one you guys had a while back.

Yeah, they made it similar to the NLU logo we had back in our DI-AA hey day. Swearingen really alienated a ton of 70's and 80's alumni when he got suckered into the name change. It's an attempt to harken back to better days before Swearingen.

The branding you established when you changed names to Warhawks. The one with the hawk head. I thought that was clean. But Like i said, I understand the nod to the alumni with the current brand.

Swearigen damn near killed the university financially and academically. The alumni didn't want the name change but it happened. That just gave the people who didn't want to contribute a built in excuse. The mascot change didn't help at all but there was no money to pay off folks like FSU. Add to that the gradual moving away from the maroon and gold to whatever it was we were wearing just took away every link to the past. You are correct that the hawk head was clean but we had too many versions of it. Changing the colors back and the ULM logo that gives a nod to the old NLU Indian logo was a correction that was a long time coming. Does it win back the old alumni? Doubtful. But it does give the new alumni and current students a logo/mascot/color scheme that isn't suffering from multiple personalities.
